Reporting to the Director, this position is responsible for the execution and administration of Member Services, Strategic Communications and Assessment for Campus Recreation, and an inclusive Fitness and Wellness program. The position provides direction and support concerning the development of full time career staff, temporary staff, and student staff. It also coordinates campus outreach to support student engagement and retention initiatives, and assists with budget and strategic planning.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
Creating a learning environment while developing a dynamic team of professional, support staff and student staff through leadership, goal setting, empowerment, development and evaluation, with an emphasis on professional competencies and customer service.
Provides direction, supervision and support for Member Services functions to include, the POS solution (FUSION), customer service, alumni relations, informal recreation and special events.
Provide direction, supervision and support to promote healthy active lifestyles through a diverse Fitness/Wellness program offerings, including group exercise, personal training, instructional training and campus well-being initiative.
Assists the Director with strategic planning by preparing and monitoring departmental goals, executing program plans, conduct assessments, surveys and benchmark research, review data and develop reports.
Guides program specific goal setting to support university, division and department mission and values.
Coordinate and manage the standard operating procedures and training manuals which creates accountability for department’s best practices.
Coordinate outreach opportunities for annual campus events, orientations, and fairs to increase awareness and visibility of recreational programs and services.
Recruit, hire, train, supervise and evaluate the marketing student staff and coordinate communications strategies to maximize student engagement.
Designs, communicates, and upholds departmental branding standards that create consistency and recognition across all marketing and digital media platforms.
Coordinate department outreach efforts to increase awareness and visibility of the program.
Manages department website design and content management in an accurate and timely manner.
Produces and maintains an active plan and timeline for all marketing campaigns to include evaluation and assessment of the effectiveness of campaigns.
Serves as a liaison between Health Sciences, Student Life, EMSA Analytics, Assessment and Communication teams, Alumni Engagement and others to support student experience and university mission.
Manage university policy to ensure compliance with business functions, including but not limited to, employment, purchasing, contracting and insurance, access, and technology.
Assist with budget allocations and supervision, recommend expenditures, and monitor accrual plans.
Prepare financial and administrative reports, analyzes and interprets statistical data, and conducts business audits.
Serve on Senior Leadership Team and serves as point of contact in the absence of Director.
Participate in university wide committee and work groups to contribute to the advancement of the University mission and goals.
Participation is encouraged on boards, or professional organizations at the state, region or national platforms, such as NIRSA, NASPA, etc.
Prepared to support national recreation trends as identified by department, with the intent of remaining a leader among peer institutions.
Work collaboratively within the department and division to enhance student, member and guest experiences.
Other duties as assigned to support division and departmental vision, objectives and goals.

Experience in Higher Educational Environment
Experience managing multiple budgets
Experience with strategic planning; goal setting, learning outcomes and leading assessment initiatives.
Experience in hiring, training, scheduling, and evaluating professional and student staff.
Experience using event/program management applications, i.e. InnoSoft Fusion, Sub It Up, Adobe Creative Suite, InDesign, Illustrator, Photo Shop, Hoot Suite, Bright Author, OnGuard/Lenel, etc.
Experience developing and leading risk management plans.
AFAA, ACE, ACSM Certifications
Master’s degree in Recreation Management, Exercise Science, Health Education/Promotion, Marketing, Communications or related field AND
Minimum of 4 years of related experience with at least three years supervisory experience, OR any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education.
Certified American Red Cross CPR/FA. (Instructor preferred)

Our Recreation Center is located within the 335,000 square foot Health and Learning Center (HLC), opened in 2011. Opened in February 2016, the Aquatic & Tennis Center features two world class pools and six indoor tennis courts, with six additional outdoor tennis courts as well as an outdoor grass playing field.
