The University of Alabama seeks a creative and experienced professional to assist in the management and oversight of daily operations of Department of University Recreation managed facilities. Staffing, scheduling and risk assessment and management are essential components of this position. Primary duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: recruitment, supervision, and mentoring of support staff, providing student development opportunities and assisting in departmental training and orientation.
Job Duties: The Coordinator of Facility Operations assists in the professional management and supervision of The University of Alabama's Student Recreation Center, Robert E. Witt Student Activity Center, and seasonal staffing of the Outdoor Pool during weekday, afternoon and evening hours. During evening hours, the incumbent shares responsibility for all functions relating to the operations and maintenance of UREC facilities including but not limited to: patron services and amenities; supervision of approximately 150-170 part time student assistants, and student building supervisors; scheduling of facilities; revenue accounting; risk assessment and management; issuance and maintenance of sports and fitness equipment; sports equipment inventory; policy administration and injury management. The incumbent is responsible for communicating problems with facility cleanliness and mechanical systems to the Director, Facility Operations. The incumbent provides a respectful, supportive and healthy environment for University Recreation participants. The Coordinator directly supervises the Student Recreation Center, and Robert E. Witt Student Activity Center student staff and encourages leadership opportunities to develop students into responsible citizens. Through the coordination and implementation of these duties, the Coordinator ensures the safety and wellbeing of participants which creates an environment for health and fitness improvement. This individual must work toward the department and University goals of diversity, equity, inclusion and outreach in student selection, patron relations, program offerings and special events. Responsible for completing required training that is related to laws and regulations, that creates a more hospitable and respectful workplace; and safer work environment. Responsible for holding staff accountable for completion of required training. Has personal accountability for financial reporting and responsibility for establishing, enforcing, and following internal processes and controls as outlined in UA policies and procedures.

Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and three (3) years of facility operations experience in a collegiate or municipal recreation setting; OR Master's degree or higher and one (1) year of facility operations experience in a collegiate or municipal recreation setting.
Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Will consider graduate assistantship or internship experience if performed with primary emphasis in facility operations. Must have valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 21 years of age at time of hire and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report as determined by the insurance carrier.
Preferred Qualifications: A minimum two years of progressive facility management experience in a campus recreation or similar setting is preferred.
