Business Operations Graduate Assistant
The Graduate Assistant- Campus Recreation Business Operations at Ohio University is primarily a project-based experience with a focus on financial analysis, process evaluation and improvement, and concession/resale operations. This position collaborates with facility staff on purchasing, receiving, pricing and security of resale and concessions items in four Campus Recreation facilities.
The Graduate Assistant of Competitive Sports works to provide leadership, strategic planning, administration and day-to-day operations of the Intramural and Club Sports programs. Primary areas of responsibility will be to supervise 150 Intramural Sports and Club Sports student personnel, advise club sport officers and Club Sports Executive Council while assisting in the planning of clubs and program budget. In addition, the Graduate Assistant of Competitive Sports is expected to promote and facilitate effective communication and collaboration across all efforts of the department, university and community partners.
The Campus Recreation Graduate Assistant of Facility Operations is a critical member of the Campus Recreation Facilities and Operations team. This position works closely with the Assistant Director and Coordinator of Facility Operations, student facility staff, maintenance staff, and fitness staff to ensure efficient and proper use of the Charles J. Ping Center, the Golf & Tennis Center, Walter Fieldhouse, and Bird Ice Arena. OHIO Campus Recreation Facility Operations Graduate Assistants receive a comprehensive facility management experience that promotes research and application of new trends in Campus Recreation operations, encourages implementation of efficient processes and procedures, and develops strong leadership skills.
The Graduate Assistant for Fitness plays an essential role in the operation of the Ohio University Department of Campus Recreation. This position reports directly to the Assistant Director of Well-Being and Fitness and is responsible for assisting the Assistant Director of Well-Being and Fitness in areas of program planning and implementation such as Personal Training, Group Fitness, Fitness Special Events and Programs, as well as providing oversight of the fitness staff. Secondary responsibilities include providing support to the Health and Wellness Graduate Assistant and related health and wellness programming to support department and division efforts in advancing the well-being of all OHIO students.
Human Resources & Training Development Graduate Assistant:
Human Resources and Training Development works with all areas of Campus Recreation to develop, deliver, and assess efficient and effective training of Campus Recreation student staff. This position ensures a consistent and cohesive customer service culture among all facilities and programs within Ohio University Campus Recreation. This is a highly collaborative position that will require strong communication skills and the ability to work through multiple facility and program training needs, while adhering to Federal, State and University policy and procedure.
The goal of the position is to involve the Outdoor Pursuits GA in all aspects of the administration of a university outdoor pursuits program, with an emphasis on adventure trip program management. This will include planning and coordinating the successful delivery of all adventure trips, leadership of adventure trips, assisting with hiring, supervision, training, and evaluation of student employees, program-wide equipment ordering and billing records, and serving as the administrative contact person when program director is not available.
The Reservation and Development Graduate Assistant provides support and guidance through the reservation and scheduling process of each of Campus Recreation’s facilities to ensure consistent and exceptional service, provide patrons with a quality experience and continue a commitment to customer communication and engagement. The Reservation and Development Graduate Assistant will assist in reservations and rentals for a variety of populations including academic and administrative departments on campus, student organizations, athletics, intramural and club sports and the general community population. Additionally, this position will work closely with campus partners to develop relationships and communication feedback for improved business development opportunities among the department including but not limited to reservations, events, and sponsorship activation.
Graduate Assistants at Ohio University receive a $13,500 stipend for Fall and Spring Semester (32 weeks)
Hourly/training rate of $9.75 will be available during university breaks and summer
Graduate Assistant stipends require a commitment of 20 hours per week
Graduate Assistants must report for on-boarding , training and academic year preparation July 29, 2019
