The Florida Gulf Coast University Department of Campus Recreation is currently looking for two (2) qualified individuals to fill the Competitive Sports Internship positions. These positions were created to benefit the program as well as provide a management and leadership opportunity for college graduates.
The successful applicants will be paid bi-weekly and expected to work an average of 29 hours/week (with the exception of university holidays and closures). Anticipated start date is mid-July 2019.
Work directly with the Assistant Director and Coordinator of Competitive Sports to develop and manage all daily aspects of both Intramural Sports and Sport Clubs
Sport Clubs -
Assist with the advisement of the Sport Clubs Council and the development of the program’s 30 clubs and 900+ participants
Attend Sport Club Council meetings and budgeting processes
Assist with program purchasing and budget allocations
Support clubs by marketing and assisting with competitions and special events
Manage imleagues.com functions, including registration, creation of team schedules, playoff brackets and tournaments
Lead officials training sessions for multiple sports
Serve as the point person for managing the officials’ development program, which includes video and written evaluations of 50+ officials for 24 sports/activities
Schedule, supervise, and lead trainings for Competitive Sports Staff and assist with the hiring process for new employees
Visit sport sites (rec fields, auxiliary gym, aquatics center, etc.) on a regular basis to ensure safety for practices and events
Oversee facility readiness including painting fields, equipment setup, etc.
Must be able to work nights and weekends
Serve on department committees for special event planning and programming
Assist with developing, enforcing, and evaluating program policies and procedures
Attend all Intramural Sports supervisor and Sport Clubs Council meetings
Other duties as assigned

Demonstrated familiarity and/or interest in both sport clubs and intramural sports
CPR/First Aid/AED certified (or ability to obtain upon hiring)
