The purpose of this position is to assist in directing and managing the overall planning and administration of the Fitness/Wellness Program, providing day-to-day and on-site coordination of its programs, services, systems, policies and procedures, personnel, and resources. The responsibilities are as follows: • Coordinate daily operations of the comprehensive Fitness/Wellness Program (Texercise, Personal Training, Private classes) to include programming and class development, special events, scheduling, personnel, policies and procedures, publicity and promotions, registration management, facility and space needs and the maintenance, purchase and inventory of equipment. • Recruit, hire, supervise, train and evaluate student staff to include group exercise instructors, personal trainers, and other part-time staff who work with the program; coordinate payroll; develop and maintain written employee materials; plan and conduct meetings, training sessions, and clinics. • Provide on-site coordination and evaluation of activities; advise, address and resolve issues, problems, conflicts and concerns as assigned, and interact with program participants to ensure that accurate information and positive experiences are attained. • Assist in the pursuit of outreach, special event and partnership opportunities within the university community to promote Fitness/Wellness activities and programs; collaborate with both internal and external constituents to enhance program offerings, communicate important information and advance new initiatives. • Maintain equipment inventories and purchase equipment as needed; develop and monitor budgets and maintain budgetary records and sales reports ; make recommendations for capital expenditures. • Prepare annual reports for all areas of responsibility to include data collection and statistical analysis, evaluations and surveys, activity assessments and program recommendations. • Attend conferences, prepare proposals and presentations, and maintain current knowledge relative to higher education administration, campus recreation and fitness/wellness programming and operations. • Provide leadership in the overall Programs Area, serve as a back-up to other program areas and contributing member of staff; attend and participate in regular staff meetings, serve on committees and perform other duties as assigned; utilize strategic planning, conceptualization, critical thinking, independent judgment, problem solving, creativity, initiative, vision and innovation to ensure quality in all areas of responsibility.

Master's degree in Recreation, Exercise Physiology, Sports Administration, Student Personnel Administration or a closely related field. Demonstrated experience in personnel management. Exceptional interpersonal, leadership and motivational skills. Excellent organizational and planning skills, and written and verbal communication skills. Proficient computer skills. Current ACSM, AFAA or ACE primary certification in group exercise and or personal training.
At least one year of experience administering a Fitness/Wellness Program in a college-level recreational sports department, or a two-year graduate assistantship in campus recreation that included a broader overview of a Fitness/Wellness program. Experience performing outreach and event planning. Direct experience administering one or more additional recreational sports program areas including Sport Clubs, Outdoor Recreation, Instructional Programs and/or Intramurals.
