As the Fitness & Wellness Graduate Assistant you will be an integral member of the fitness staff. This position will report to the Assistant Director of Fitness and Wellness and is expected to work 25-29 hours/week for the academic year, summer employment is also available. There will be ample opportunity to be involved in other administrative areas including facility management, student staff training, sports clubs and special events.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to;
Assist with the supervision, administration, planning, promoting and expansion of the Group Fitness and Personal training programs.
Management of the group fitness program and staff including creating fitness schedules, evaluating instructors, providing instructor development opportunities and promoting the benefits of healthy lifestyles.
Create and compile reports for group fitness and personal training participation.
Coordinate and implement wellness programs for the campus community.
Assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of special events.
Other duties as assigned. There will be opportunities to be involved in other administrative areas including facility management and special events.
Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university.
Be admitted to, and remain in good standing throughout the master's program, to the Graduate School.
Have at least one current and nationally accredited group fitness instructor and/or personal training certification.
Desire to mentor and work closely with students on a daily basis.
Leadership and supervisory skills.
Valid driver's license.
CPR/AED & First Aid certification.
Experience teaching a variety of Group Fitness classes.
Experience in staff development and event/program planning.
