Hire, train, directly supervise and evaluate student Supervisors and Assistants
Plan and conduct monthly in-service trainings for staff
Responsible for scheduling building and fitness center staff
Assist with facility reservations and staffing for all events
Inspect all facilities to ensure that they are free of hazards and safe for patron use
Provide leadership to various student staff committees
Assist in the creation and implementation of new policies and procedures and enforcing existing policies
Work evenings at least once a week and occasional weekends
Represent department at various university functions and events
Additional Responsibilities (All Positions):
May include assisting with campus wide special events, student services special events, and assist in all related administrative duties. A combined workload of 20 hours per week is expected. Evening and/or weekend hours will be required. All graduate assistants participate in meetings, assist with policy and procedure revision, staff training's, distribution and administration, and provide suggestions and feedback to the professional staff. Must be enrolled on a full-time basis (minimum 9 hours per semester) to receive graduate assistant position, stipend, and tuition waivers
Facilities GA Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, Sport Management, Recreation or related field with a minimum 3.0 GPA; must enroll into a UL Lafayette graduate program; Experience leading meetings and trainings; Demonstrate verbal and written communication skills; must be willing to work assigned weekends and night shifts; current Red Cross CPR/AED and First Aid Certification (or able to obtain within the first month of employment)
Preferred Qualifications (All Positions):
Experience in the administration of facility operations and programs in a university recreation setting; scheduling software (SubItUp); Knowledge of Innosoft Fusion Rec Management Software; staff trainings; Extensive knowledge of customer service training; demonstrated organizational and management skills; strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work independently; valid driver’s license.

Additional Salary Information: $10,070 stipend paid out at $1,007 per month for 10 month appointment. Summer employment is available and encouraged. Graduate Assistants receive tuition waiver and are responsible for student fees
