ASSISTANT DIRECTOR - CLUB SPORTS Program Oversight:
- Administration of all aspects of the club sports program which include but not limited to: Club Sport officer training, student/leadership development, advisor training, budget, policy creation, travel, equipment purchasing and inventory, participant eligibility, knowledge/enforcement of national governing body standards and rules, coaches, indoor and outdoor facility reservations, marketing, and risk management.
- Responsible for hiring, training, scheduling, supervising and evaluating a graduate assistant, program assistant, student supervisors or other types of employees for the Club Sports program.
- Assist with oversight/creating of university and foundation accounts for all Club Sports.
- Serve as a liaison to the Club Sports Advisory Committee.
- Recruit new club teams and participants.
Program Responsibilities: - Develop, supervise, and evaluate full time and part time personnel.
- Develop and enforce program policies, procedures, and protocols (staff manuals, program handbooks), framed around fostering relationships with participants and campus partners, developing excellence in student staff, and aligning with University and Student Standards and Conduct policies.
- Compile and evaluate information and statistics for activity, semester, and annual reporting.
- Create and implement short and long-term goals for use in program area assessment, learning outcomes, and strategic planning, as well as, participate in needs assessment for program and facilities.
- Prepare and administering of a planned budget for the Club Sports Program, including monthly budgeting, payroll, and maintenance and equipment.
- Collaborate with the Student Life Marketing individual to design and implement an effective marketing plan for the Club Sports Program.
- Utilize program and departmental software and applications including Fusion, payroll software and others.
- Purchase, maintenance, and long-term planning of inventory, including equipment, uniforms, and awards.
- Oversee and or delegate maintenance and set up of all facilities utilized by the Club Sports program, perform risk management checks and observe participant behaviors in the Club Sports program.
Department Responsibilities: - Assist with planning and participate in University Recreation’s departmental events and activities.
- Participate in the development of learning outcomes, strategic planning and other departmental initiatives.
- Assess risk management policies and procedures and maintain program compliance.
- Attend Department of Campus recreation meetings as scheduled.
- Serve on campus and departmental committees as assigned.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a field related to Recreation, Sports Administration, Health/Physical Education or Student Personnel Management.
- Minimum of 1 (one) year of professional experience in Campus Recreation working with Sport Clubs or Competitive Sports Programs.
- Certified in American Red Cross CPR/AED/First Aid or American Heart Association.
- Involvement with NIRSA.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Recreation, Kinesiology, Sports Management, or related field.
- Two (2) years of professional or graduate school experience in Campus Recreation directly working with sport club/competitive sports program preferred.
Documented experience with: - Programming, supervision, organizational tasks, training, Assessment and Student development.
- Developing and managing program budgets and risk management procedures.
- Professional working experience in the administration of a student organization/club sports/competitive sports program.
- Certified in American Red Cross or American heart Association CPR/AED/First Aid Instructor’s certification.
- Active NIRSA Membership.

Graduate Assistant for IM Sports reports to the Associate Director of Campus Recreation. General Responsibilities: Under the direction of the Associate Director of Campus Recreation, this person’s responsibility is assisting the IM Sports program. Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to: - The planning, development, and implementation of a comprehensive intramural sports program consisting of all individual/dual and team sport activities for more than 4000 participants and 50 student employees per year.
- Developing and conducting officials’ training clinics
- Recruiting, hiring, training, scheduling, and evaluating sports officials/supervisors for intramural activities in major team sports
- Promoting, marketing, planning and scheduling all intramural team and individual/dual sports
- Assisting with student payroll and budget planning
- Policy development
- Assist with the equipment inventory/purchasing process
- Assist the Associate Director policy and rule review.
- Serve as SRC facility manager as needed.
- Evening and/or weekend hours may be required.
- Additional duties as assigned to assist in the overall mission of the department.
Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, Sport Management, Recreation or related field. Admission into a PSU graduate program; Experience in Intramural Sports programming, officials training, professionalism and willingness to learn; excellent verbal and written communication; motivation, enthusiasm, and attention to detail; Supervisory experience; current First Aid/CPR certification. - Assist in strategic planning and goal development for future of fitness & wellness program.
- Assist in recruitment, hiring, training, scheduling, and evaluation of group fitness instructors, personal trainers, and fitness floor staff.
- Plan and facilitate staff development opportunities.
- Assist in coordinating group fitness class schedules.
- Assist with programming to provide quality fitness programs and activities.
- Assist with coordinating, staffing, facilitating, health fairs and events.
- Assist with implementing and maintaining Campus Recreation policies and procedures.
- Demonstrate effective communication through written and verbal interactions with staff.
- Create partnerships within the university community to develop new customized fitness initiatives.
- Attend regular fitness supervisor meetings.
