Campus Recreation at Florida Gulf Coast University, now in the newly formed Division of Student Success & Enrollment Management, anticipates funding for this new position beginning July 1, 2019.
We're looking for team-oriented and self-directed individuals with strong leadership skills in and area of facility supervision and student staff development.
Under the direction of the Assistant Director - Aquatics, the position will coordinate the daily management of the Lee County/FGCU Aquatics Center, South Village Pool, and the FGCU Waterfront.
Additionally this position will support the Assistant Director - Fitness with the oversight of all other aspects of the Aquatics program including direct supervision of the lifeguard staff.
Responsible for the daily management of staff at Lee County/FGCU Aquatics Center, Sovi Pool, and the Waterfront including recruitment, hiring, orienting, training, scheduling, evaluating, and retention of student staff.
Responsible for developing, implementing, overseeing, and assessing assigned programs and special events at aquatic facilities.
Collaborate with marketing staff on creating, and executing marketing strategies for aquatic facilities.
Schedule staff and equipment usage for facility rentals and special events.
Plan, organize and facilitate staff in-service training. Ensure employees are meeting monthly training minimums and have current certifications for all positions.
Assist with the coordination and supervision of events held at aquatic facilities which includes swim meets, winter team training, student organization events, university events, and/or any other facility rentals.
Assists with maintaining assigned budgets including monitoring expenditures, researching purchase options, reconciling purchasing card expenditures, and preparing budget requests.
Assist with the creating, updating, and enforcing university and department facility policies as they relate to risk management, facility usage, and patron usage.
Assist with supervising the aquatic facility operation and developing the pool maintenance schedule including maintaining pool chemistry, filtration and chemical feed systems.
Assist with maintaining the highest pool water quality, pump room functionality and facility safety, cleanliness and presentation. This includes assisting with completion of routine facility inspections and audits.

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization such as Sports Administration, Recreation, Hospitality Management, Business Administration, Education, or closely related discipline.
Two years of experience in facility management, aquatics management, program planning, and/or staff supervision.
Current American Red Cross Lifeguarding, CPR/AED and First Aid certification.
Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.
Master’s degree from an accredited institution in Sports Administration, Recreation, Hospitality Management, Business Administration, Education or closely related discipline.
Current American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor or Water Safety Instructor certification or ability to obtain within six months of employment.
Current Certified Pool Operator/Aquatics Facility Operator certification or ability to receive within six months of employment.
Experience and proficiency with recreation management software, such as Innosoft Fusion, CSI, similar.
