West Virginia University Campus Recreation invites applications from candidates wishing to join our team as a Coordinator for Youth Programs, Customer Service and Events. The Coordinator for Youth Programs, Customer Service and Events provides assistance in supervision of the Member and Guest Services student staffing as well as coordinating youth programs, rentals and special events. Coordinates with other department staff to facilitate event, rental and camp activities.
Duties & Responsibilities
Collaborate in the management of a comprehensive youth program including a robust day-camp during summer and other breaks.
Implement all programs utilizing current recreational sports and student development practices.
Create an environment that inspires innovation and effective student development outcomes.
Build strong partnerships with other departments on campus. Assist with departmental branding through program design.
Conduct surveys to evaluate customer satisfaction and make recommendations for improvement.
Assist with additional areas of program delivery dependent on individual competency and program needs
Schedule special events, facility rentals, youth programs and other related offerings.
Plan and implement programming for students and other members.
Assist in creation of policies and procedures, develop and adjust rules with necessary forms to provide a safe and enjoyable playing environment.
Schedule and coordinate indoor and outdoor venues for programs, events and rentals.
Coordinate with other department staff in order to facilitate event, rental and camp activity.
Oversee selection of event and rental equipment.
Facilitate the incorporation of policies and procedures as they relate to rental, event and camp use of Campus Recreation facilities.
Coordinate the facility scheduling needs with appropriate parties.
Coordinate and oversee a risk management plan pertinent to event, rental, youth programs and related activities in order to ensure compliance with industry standard of care.
Recruit, train and evaluate event, rental and youth programming staff.
Assist in daily supervision of Member and Guest Services staff and related responsibilities.
Provide managerial and leadership experiences in various aspects of special event, rental, youth programs and other related offerings.
Administer employee and participant related disciplinary action.
Create, encourage, and support professional development opportunities for staff, including professional association involvement, training programs, and individual mentoring.
Monitor operating budgets for events, rentals and youth programming expenditures.
Manage payroll for event, rental and youth programming; maintain payroll records and reports.
Prepare financial, participant, and equipment inventory reports as needed.
Assist with long-term planning and forecast event, rental and youth programming equipment replacement.
Supervise events, rentals, youth programs and other related offerings with an emphasis on risk and financial management.
Conduct periodic supervisor and staff training and informational meetings.
Implement assessment tools to collect participant feedback.
Develop and revise training manuals and materials for related programs.
Provide statistical data, reports and other information for monthly and annual reports.
Ensure that the Campus Recreation website is current with information relative to event, rental and related programming.
Order supplies, materials, and other items for various event, rental and youth programming needs in order to ensure efficient and functional operation.
Order recreational equipment for use in special events, rentals and youth Programming.
Become proficient in the use of Fusion as a management tool for Campus Recreation specifically as it relates to events, rentals, youth programs and other related offerings.
Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a college or university recreation environment with particular emphasis on a student development driven program, during which time the applicant has acquired and demonstrated the ability to perform the essential duties of the position. Graduate Assistant position may meet this requirement.
Experience working with youth populations, particularly coordinating youth camps.
Demonstrated experience developing/managing comprehensive event and rental operations.
Demonstrated leadership and supervisory abilities.
Demonstrated experience and abilities to work as part of a professional team that collaborates effectively with colleagues.
Entrepreneurial spirit and enthusiasm.

Pass a Level 2 Background check
Possess or obtain Adult and Child CPR/AED and First Aid certifications
Complete and remain current with Title IX and BOG 49 training requirements
