The Facility Operations and Marketing Specialist oversees all aspects of recreation center operations including personnel management, marketing, daily maintenance, and member support. This position reports to the Director of Campus Recreation.

50% Supervision and Management of Facility Operations Personnel - Recruit, hire, train, schedule and evaluate student employees hired for Facility Operations (building manager, front desk, fitness center and fitness loft) and the Street Team (marketing and promotions) - Monitor and record behavior that warrants praise and discipline - Manage changes to staffing schedules - Edit and approve bi-weekly student time sheets - Maintain policies and uphold students to the protocol and criteria of each assigned role - Review probationary period with new employees - Facilitate new employee and annual evaluations - Provide semi-annual and on-going training - Mentor and develop students’ soft skills such as time management, accountability, leadership, team work, and customer service - Train all Campus Recreation staff on software such as DSE, Millennium, CashNET, SubItUp and TimeClockPlus
25% Marketing - Coordinate recruiting efforts and strategic outreach to Auraria Campus community (MSU Denver, CU Denver and Community College of Denver) and its surrounding population - Schedule and train staff for tabling events (e.g. Rec Fest, Fall Fest, Spring Fling, Wellness Fair, and Open Houses) - Deploy Street Team for on-campus awareness and education - Create and implement special events and promotional activities to increase membership sales - Lead social media, MET Media, print material and word of mouth campaign to promote our services
15% Facility Maintenance - Oversee preventative maintenance of equipment and management of supplies throughout the facility - Facilitate routine checks on equipment - Research and train on proper use and maintenance for all equipment and machines - Order and restock maintenance and cleaning supplies
5% Member Support - Manage membership software applications (such as DSE and Millennium) which includes access control, participant tracking and program participation - Remain current with industry trends relating to membership software - Serve as a staff resource for customer service issues related to memberships or member experience
5% Other Duties as Assigned
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution - Possess a current First Aid/CPR/AED certification or ability to obtain one within 30 days of start date - Two years of customer service experience - Previous experience supervising and providing performance management of employees - Previous experience working in a recreation center environment - Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Master’s degree from an accredited institution in recreation, outdoor recreation, sports management, exercise science, health education, physical education, business administration, communications or related field - Two years of higher-education recreation work experience - Two years of recreation center customer service or marketing experience - Experience in managing 20+ employees - Experience in managing student employees - Experience in facility operations and scheduling - Experience in marketing, promotions and communications - Experience using and Adobe suites or similar software - Ability to collaborate well with internal and external resources and constituents - Commitment to mentoring student employees through their development and future workplace skills
Additional Salary Information: The minimum of the hiring range for this position is $40,892. Final salary will be commensurate with experience and education.
