POSITION DESCRIPTION: Full-time professional exempt staff position with full benefits. The Coordinator of Fitness Programs has major responsibility for hiring, training, scheduling, and supervising approximately 50 student group fitness instructors. Specific responsibilities include scheduling approximately 150 group fitness classes, assisting with fitness program development, and implementing safety/risk management policies and procedures for group fitness classes and activities; working with the marketing staff to promote fitness programs and special events; managing the program equipment, developing and overseeing group fitness budget, and teaching ACE Group Fitness Instructor and Adult CPR/AED courses; developing and administering fitness events; some evening and weekend work is required.
START DATE: June 1, 2019 (negotiable)
SALARY: Commensurate with education and experience, the range is $56,000-$61,000.
BENEFITS: 22 days annual leave, 14 paid holidays, 3 days personal leave, 15 days sick leave; University contributions to health insurance and retirement plans; tuition remission.

QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must have, as a minimum: a Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, or Health related field, one (1) year cumulative experience supervising and training group exercise instructors in a collegiate/community/commercial fitness environment, at least one (1) year experience teaching group fitness in a variety of formats, acquired a nationally recognized Fitness Instructor certification (ACE or AFAA), and current CPR certification. Knowledge of group fitness program trends and equipment. Strong communication and customer service skills.
Preferred: Master’s degree, certification as an American Red Cross CPR Pro Instructor; Specialty certifications in Zumba™, YogaFit™, Cycling, or Les Mills™ formats.
