This part-time position (20 hours) for Campus Rec & Wellness will work under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Sport Activities. The Graduate Assistant will gain on the job learning and experiences on how to organize and manage Leagues and Club Sports. The student will be directly responsible for assisting with scheduling games, communicating with team captains, supervising officials/sport supervisors, developing club officers, coordinating travel, and managing necessary paperwork.
Implement risk management procedures

Develop promotional materials that include brochures, fliers, newsletters, and handouts
Perform other related duties as assigned by the Director, or Assistant Director of Campus Rec & Wellness or the Executive Director of the Student Activity Association, Inc.
Assist in recruiting, hiring, training, scheduling, supervising, and evaluating student staff
Assist in coordinating and scheduling league activities
Assist in the collection of surveys to maintain and improve league operations and processes
Assist with the purchasing and inventory of equipment
Communicate effectively with team captains and officials
Supervise Sport Supervisors
Visually inspect the playing area to ensure a safe environment prior to, during, and at the end of the activity
Prepare the activity site
Assist with verifying the eligibility of participants and check-in procedures
Ensure participants are wearing legal equipment and following stated policies
Accurately complete and organize all paperwork
Update standings and scores, demonstrating proficiency using league software
Complete a Sport Report for each sport at the end of each sport
Assist in all aspects of the administration and organization of league sports
Assist with the creation and implementation of leadership/management training program(s) for club officers
Coordinate clubs’ facility use requests through email and EMS
Assist with planning and organizing club activities, tournaments and contests including staffing
Assist with the review of player eligibility, club forms, travel itineraries, and other related paperwork
Catalogue, track, and procure club equipment
Experience in recreation programming
Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise and Sport Science, Kinesiology, Physical Education, Recreation, Sports Management, Administration, or related field.
2. Graduate Assistant for Fitness
This full-time position (20 Hours) will work under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Campus Rec & Wellness that oversees Fitness & Wellbeing. The Graduate Assistant will gain on the job learning and experiences on how to manage a comprehensive fitness and wellness program, student staff, and evaluation. The student may be responsible for assisting with teaching group fitness classes, training clients, managing student personnel, aiding the operations of personal training program, and implementing fitness and wellness related programs and initiatives.
Recruit, hire, train, and develop a student staff for the group fitness and personal training program.
Assist in the hiring and training of fitness and wellness staff.
Assist in recruiting, training, evaluating, and scheduling group fitness instructors and the personal training
Create a semester based Group Fitness class
Teach Group Fitness class (such as Step, Kickboxing, Yoga, Pilates) and train clients.
Plan and coordinate certifications and
Attend staff meetings and workshops.
Assist with the implementation of the staff in-training programs for group fitness and personal training.
Manage the Personal Training Lifestyle Management Office.
Develop and maintain marketing outlets that include social media, brochures, bulletin boards, fliers, newsletters and
Perform other related duties as assigned by the Assistant Director(s) or the Director of Campus Rec & Wellness and the Executive Director of the Student Activity Association, Inc.
May serve in regular rotation as a Facility Manager
Additional position responsibilities will be tailored to meet the professional goals of the student.
Must major in the Exercise Science Masters program
Nationally recognized Group Fitness and/or Personal Training certification
Experience in recreation programming
Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise and Sport Science, Kinesiology, Physical Education, Recreation, Sports Management, Administration or related
Maintain 3.0 GPA in Master’s Program at ESU
Maintain Current CPR, First Aid and AED Certifications
Acceptance into a Master’s Degree Program at ESU (Each Master’s program may have different acceptance requirements)
Required to complete the mandatory Title IX, Cleary Act, and Pennsylvania Minors Clearances as well as background checks and fingerprints prior to beginning.
Additional Salary Information: Compensation
•Full Time GA works an average of 20 hours a week with a maximum of 300 per semester
•In State Tuition waiver up to 9 credits per semester
•Stipend for part-time GA is $8.35 per hour with a maximum of $2,500.00 per semester.
•Student general fees and books are not included.
•Summer and semester break employment opportunities are available.
