Under the supervision of the SRAC Assistant Director, the Group Fitness-Wellness Supervisor is responsible for overseeing day-to-day fitness operations, developing programs, and assist with all areas of SRAC fitness and wellness.
Duties and Responsibilities
Oversee group fitness programming, including but not limited to, recruiting, hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating fitness instructor staff.
Assist with developing and implementing: small group training, workshops, incentive programs, wellness events, and more.
Ensure all activities are conducted in accordance with industry standards and safety procedures.
Conduct evaluations of all fitness/wellness programs, to ensure customer satisfaction.
Monitor studio and fitness floor equipment, communicating repairs and maintenance needs to appropriate staff.
In absence of scheduled instructor, will be required to teach a class.
Create an inclusive environment that inspires innovation and effective student development.
Assist with developing the fitness/wellness budget and equipment selection and purchase.
Ensures all staff certifications are valid, current, and tracked accurately.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Ability to respond to emergency situations.
Capable of teaching at least two formats; willingness to become certified in at least one specialized program (Les Mills, Beach Body, etc.).
Demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to develop effective relationships with Student Union staff, campus partners and a diverse community clientele.
Ability to work evening and weekend hours.
Qualification and Specifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology/Exercise Science, Sport Management, or related field. Master’s preferred.
One year professional level experience with supervision of group fitness/wellness programs, or two years as a group fitness graduate assistant.
American Red Cross CPR/AED/FA Instructor or ability to obtain certification within 6 months of hire.
National fitness certification preferred (ACE, NASM, ACSM etc.)
Able to lift 45 pounds safely and stand for an extended period of time.
This position is exempt from the provisions of Section 1 of the California Industrial Welfare Commission Orders.
