The UMass Lowell Campus Recreation Facility Operations and Intramural Sports Intern will report to the Assistant Director of Facility Operations and Youth Programs and the Coordinator of Intramural Sports and Youth Programs. Their role will be to assist with facility operations and risk management inside the Campus Recreation Center and assist with the overall administration of the Intramural Sports program.
Facility Operations & Risk Management - 40%
Facilities & Staff Management (30%)
Indirectly supervise welcome desk attendants including Sub-it-Up shift changes
Assist with management of operations budget and approve payroll for 40+ welcome desk attendants
Risk Management (10%)
Conduct weekly facility inspections and assist with coordination of recreation center and turf complex repairs.
Teach several staff and community CPR/AED and First Aid classes; we will provide certification
Manage welcome desk equipment inventory
Intramural Sports - 40%
Program Administration (20%)
Assist with day to day operations, administration, and marketing of program which includes over 6,000 participants and 25 programs
Help manage league schedules and communication on imleagues.com
Assist with website edits and updates
Staff Management and Development (20%)
Create schedules for officials and supervisors and assist with staff trainings
Assist with major tournaments and officiate when necessary throughout year
Help manage operations budget and approve payroll for 30+ student officials and supervisors
RecKids Summer Camp – 10%
Assist the camp coordinators with counselor training and daily activities
Supervise counselors and act as a liaison with family and friends of campers
Process all forms and documents (rosters, waivers, staff paperwork, etc.)
Intramural Sports and Youth Camp experience preferred
Salary and Compensation
30 hours/week; June 24 – April 24
Business hours with some nights and weekends $21,000 broken down into: $13,000 stipend + $8,000 on-campus housing credit
