The Marketing Graduate Assistant is a member of the marketing team at Recreation Services which is responsible for coordinating all printed, digital and in person communications for the department. This position will assist the full time marketing staff and may include such things as website management, design coordination, in person outreach, event planning, and writing.
Specific job duties:
Assist with writing and creating promotional pieces for department programs
Assist with social media communications and campaigns
Assist with advertising campaigns
Assist with Recreation Services website and Sport Clubs websites
Assist in planning and executing special events
Assist in making videos highlighting programs and events
Coordinating and/or giving presentations on campus when requested
Coordinating and/or giving tours of recreation facilities when requested
Coordinating and/or designing various communications pieces
Coordinate and/or take photos of various events and programs
Assist with project management
Assist with marketing analytics and reporting
Assist with student staff hiring, training, supervision
Participate in a monthly professional development cohort with other Recreation Services graduate assistants
Must be accepted into a graduate program at Iowa State University for Fall 2019
Undergraduate degree in marketing, journalism, advertising, communications, graphic design, or similar field
Experience with collaborative environments and working on a team
Must have strong time management skills, presentation skills, and able to work independently

Requirements: Graduate Assistants must be accepted into one of the following graduate programs, as it relates to their position within Recreation Services: Kinesiology, Accounting, Business Administration (M.B.A), Finance, Graphic Design, Journalism and Mass Communication
Additional Salary Information: Graduate assistants with an appointment of one-quarter time or more are assessed resident tuition for each term they have an assistantship.
Students who are on half time assistantship or greater and are master's candidates will receive a 50% tuition scholarship award.
Graduate Assistants receive university holidays and single student health insurance coverage which includes a prescription drug plan at no charge. Vacation and sick leave accrual and usage are determined by the supervisor.
Compensation will be approximately $2,000 /month, during fall and spring academic terms. The stipend is subject to income tax withholding requirements as payment for work. Student wage employment during summer break is possible. A Second year assistantship would be offered depending on job performance and funding is available
