Florida State University is seeking a dynamic, innovative and student development-centered individual for the position of Intramural Sports Coordinator. Our Intramural Sports program offers over 80 team sports leagues, special events, and drop-in nights throughout the year.
The successful candidate will provide shared leadership for a comprehensive university-wide recreational program designed for more than 50,000 students, faculty, and staff, and will assist with cultivating and delivering the departmental brand to the entire community. They will also cultivate an environment that values inclusiveness and diversity, engage in evidence-based decision-making, and promote student development and learning. Serves as Coordinator of Intramural Sports Programs. Recruits, hires, trains, supervises, evaluates, and certifies attendance and leave of up to 200 OPS student workers including officials, student directors, student program supervisors, customer service attendants, and office assistants. Coordinates and conducts preseason and ongoing officials training sessions and regular meetings. Provides mentorship for and critical evaluation of appropriate student staff.
Develops, plans, promotes, and supervises a diversified and comprehensive program of specific intramural sports and events. Administers nearly 40 sports annually involving over 5,000 games and events, including team registration and league & tournament scheduling for 300+ teams in select sports. Provides support for regular updating of Intramural Sports web site.
Develop and coordinate marketing for Intramural Sports. Responsible for collaborating with colleagues and other departments for improvement and integration of Intramural programming on and off campus.
Provides customer service to the over 25,000 annual participants of Intramural Sports programs including general questions, policy & procedure interpretation, and disciplinary hearings for unsportsmanlike incidents.
Coordinates pertinent assessment data regarding customer satisfaction and participant & student staff learning experiences for regular analysis and annual reporting. Maintains statistical data for all programs under his/her supervision.
Reviews, revises, and develops program and sport rules, guidelines, policies, and procedures for specific activities within the Intramural Sports program. Establishes and enforces risk management protocols as recommended by related national governing bodies.
Bachelor's degree in Sports Management, Physical Education, Recreation/Leisure Administration or related field and 2 years of experience.
Ability to become certified in CPR/First Aid/AED through American Red Cross within the first 6 months of hire.
Master's degree in Sports Management, Physical Education, Recreation/Leisure Administration or related field.
Experience with sports officiating and officials training.
Knowledge of sport and staff scheduling software.
