Florida State University is seeking a dynamic, innovative and student development-centered individual for the position of Fitness Coordinator. Our fitness program offers a variety of training opportunities for our participants from one-time consultations to regular personal training sessions. Our staff is comprised of nationally-accredited, certified personal trainers.
The successful candidate will provide shared leadership for a comprehensive university-wide recreational program designed for more than 50,000 students, faculty, and staff, and will assist with cultivating and delivering the departmental brand to the entire community. They will also cultivate an environment that values inclusiveness and diversity, engage in evidence-based decision-making, and promote student development and learning. Serves as the Coordinator for Fitness. Coordinates, promotes, supervises, and evaluates diversified fitness programs including but not limited to cardio respiratory and muscular conditioning, Olympic lifting, and related educational outreach. Assist with the evaluation and recommendation of fitness equipment and supplies to meet program and facility needs.
Coordinates, promotes, supervises, and evaluates a comprehensive slate of free and revenue-generating personal training services and group training programs, introductory fitness coaching and consulting services, associated customized fitness training programs, and fitness assessment services.
Recruits, hires, trains, schedules, supervises, and evaluates 50-80 student staff members as fitness consultants and personal trainers. Provides leadership for student director positions. Sets learning outcomes and provides continuing education for staff to enhance skills and obtain / maintain appropriate certifications through workshops, instructional seminars, and conference attendance.
Acts as risk manager for fitness programs and facilities. Researches liability issues and implements updates to policies and procedures to maintain an appropriate standard of care and safety of fitness programs and related equipment.
Develops and administers budget for assigned area. Regularly reports assessment and statistical data pertaining to operations, participation and staff development.
Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology, or related field and two years of experience in recreation or fitness setting.
Current personal training certification through NSCA, ACE, NASM, AFAA, or other nationally recognized agency.
Master's degree in Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology, or related field.
Experience utilizing scheduling software.
