Mylan Park owns, programs, leases, and manages over 350 acres of mixed-use recreation, social, health, and wellness facilities for the Greater Morgantown community. Through a public private partnership with WVU, Mylan Park is also home to a variety of both indoor and outdoor Intramural, Club Sports, and NCAA Big 12 Collegiate Athletic programs and the state’s only 50M aquatic facility. This partnership provides priority use of over 50 acres of field space, and more than 140,000 sq. ft. of state-of-the-art indoor facilities, for programs including WVU Swimming & Diving, indoor soccer, softball, rugby, flag football, WVU Women’s Track & Field, cheer, boxing, outdoor soccer, lacrosse, roller derby, and more.
The Coordinator is responsible for the oversight and management of all park related sports, recreation and youth programming. This position will manage part-time staff including instructors, officials, attendants and supervisors.

Recruit, train, supervise and evaluate staff including graphic designers, photographer, videographer, interns, web designers, pro-shop and guest service attendants
Coordinate promotional efforts for the department, with an emphasis on consistency of message and brand development.
Assess advertising inventory within the park and work with the Director of Park Operations to develop advertising sales proposals to be delivered to prospective clients.
Facilitate the production and dissemination of department-wide promotional collateral, including approval of final-product proofs.
Coordinate with programming and operations staff to develop targeted marketing and promotional media aimed at attaining participation, rental, and revenue metrics.
Utilize on-line and off-line marketing channels, including print, podcasts, web, reach, four-wind, direct advertising, social networking, etc.
Develop, implement and assess the annual Park User Satisfaction Survey.
Create and maintain a unified identity for all facility signage, displays, and postings.
Present a unified, consistent branding of programs, facilities and services in all promotions.
Oversee media development, including the department website and multi-media presentations.
Identify appropriate communication mediums for each membership and program segment and coordinate regular, periodic communiqués utilizing each medium identified.
Initiate and lead department participation in community events, information fairs, and other outreach events.
Participate in and support community efforts that are congruent with the departmental mission.
Seek avenues for increasing visibility for Mylan Park within the local area, state, and region.
Assist with creating and monitoring of operating budgets for marketing and membership recruitment.
Prepare financial and participation reports as needed.
Coordinate a comprehensive new member marketing program to include: membership promotion periods, corporate recruitment, trial program, new member survey and follow up, referral program, and facility tours.
Coordinate a comprehensive membership recruitment and retention program to include: membership database management, membership appreciation days, membership renewals and cancelations, retention programs (birthdays, low usage, referral prizes, renewal gifts, etc.), and corporate account management.
Become proficient in the use of CSI as a management tool of the Recreation Center specifically as it relates to membership and budget tracking.
Develop and monitor prospective member list to maximize opportunity.
Develop and monitor cancelled membership list to determine appropriate action.
Work with colleagues to develop programs targeted toward generating memberships.

Bachelor’s degree required.
At least two years of marketing & customer service experience preferred.
Experience working in a community recreation environment, strong communication and presentation skills.
Demonstrated experience within organizing sports, recreation and/or camp management.
Knowledge of standard practices and demonstrated experience in recreational sports.
Leadership and supervisory abilities.
Ability to work as part of, and lead a team that collaborates effectively with colleagues.
Entrepreneurial spirit and enthusiasm.
Analytical skills to: identify problems, assess alternatives, and render consistent, logical decisions.
Ability to thrive in an environment that values high expectations, accountability, and balanced lifestyle choices.
Previous officiating and competitive sport experience preferred.
Some knowledge of HR theories and best practices in recruitment and staff development.
Basic accounting knowledge; capability of understanding budgets.
Human Relations: Internal contacts include staff at all levels. External contacts include external customers and vendors. Contact involves troubleshooting, informing, exchanging information, negotiating, making recommendations, and giving information or instructions.
