A&M-Commerce Campus Recreation is looking for a dynamic Marketing Graduate Assistant for 2019-2021. The mission of our graduate assistant-ship program is to foster the development of upcoming recreational professionals by immersing them in a holistic, experiential, and hands-on recreation experience.
This is a brand new graduate assistant position within a five graduate assistant cohort.
You will get the chance to really improve and structure our marketing program.
You will get to work with student marketing assistants, photographers, and graphic designers.
Tuition coverage (eligible for both in-state/out-of-state students) and health benefits (if taken). Student is responsible for semester fees, which are approximately $1,500.
$1,200 monthly stipend that is paid biweekly at 20 hours per week.
$2,000 yearly funding for professional development including NIRSA Region IV/Student Lead-On, NIRSA Annual Conference, certifications, and other opportunities.
$500 book scholarship per semester.
We are opening up a new Tennis Court Complex and Sand Volleyball Complex this spring.
We have a young, progressive professional staff.
We have a new University President.
We have a new Dean of Students for the Division of Campus Life and Student Development.
Soon to bring on a new Campus Recreation Director and new Assistant Director of Fitness and Wellness.
Assist the Associate Director with overseeing approximately four marketing student employees including: graphic designers, photographers, and marketing assistants.
Assist with recruiting, hiring, training, scheduling, and evaluating student staff.
Develop, manage, and deliver a variety of marketing initiatives including advertising, promotions, branding, campus outreach, social media, email marketing, video/photography creation, and digital signage.
Develop and critique graphic design projects such as posters, schedules, digital ads, and apparel designs.
Assist with production and editing of marketing videos and photography.
Serve as department marketing liaison to student stakeholders (i.e. - Registered Student Organizations, the student newspaper, Greek Life, etc.).
Assist in administering the department’s social media accounts.
Assist in website reviews and updates.
Promote the department’s vision through the creation and execution of diverse and progressive marketing materials/promotions/tactics.
Common Graduate Programs for Campus Recreation GA’s
Required Qualifications for all Graduate Assistant Applicants
A Bachelor’s Degree and acceptance into the Graduate School at TAMUC.
Experience working in collegiate recreation, recreational program, or related program for at least one year.
Possess current American Red Cross/First-Aid/AED certification or willingness to obtain during the first 30 days of employment.
Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
Employment is contingent upon satisfactorily completing a background check
General Graduate Assistant Requirements
Attend bi-weekly professional and student staff meetings.
Provide oversight of program area in the absence of supervisor.
Evening and weekend work will be required.
Other duties as assigned that assist with the overall mission of the department.

Required Marketing Qualifications
1+ years experience in program or event marketing/advertising.
Experience with organizing and administrating various social media platforms.
Preferred Marketing Qualifications
Experience with branding, brand management, website, photography, and/or graphic design.
Experience using the Adobe Cloud Suite to include Photoshop, Illustrator, Lightroom, and Indesign.
Experience working within a campus recreation setting .
