The Graduate Assistant Intramural Sports will work with the Intramural Sports program and other programs within Campus Recreation as assigned. The Graduate Assistant will work alongside the Assistant Director, Campus Recreation and Director, Campus Recreation in building a comprehensive area consisting of club sports, fitness, informal recreation, intramural sports and outdoor adventures.
Assist with the daily operations of maintaining a comprehensive intramural program.
Assist in the development of policies and procedures for both participants and workers.
Assist with the inventory and maintenance of the all equipment.
Hire, train, schedule, evaluate, and mentor Intramural student staff.
Coordinate the data collection of intramural participation.
Facilitate intramural official trainings, along with captain’s meetings.
Utilize the online employee management software (subitup.com), to maintain daily schedules and availability of student staff.
Assist with employee and participant discipline.
Lead staff trainings and meetings for student employees.
Travel for extramural tournaments/conferences and work nights, weekends, and holidays, as necessary
May perform marketing or public relations duties to promote the program.
Assist with other program areas within Campus Recreation (club sports, fitness, outdoor adventures, etc.) as needed.
Must have completed a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year institution.
Must be accepted and enrolled full-time in a Stevenson University graduate program.
Must continuously be in good academic standing throughout the period of the graduate assistantship.
Must have CPR/AED and First Aid Certifications (or able to obtain them within the first month of employment).
Must be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, IMLeagues, subitup and other similar programs.
One year intramural sports work experience (scorekeeper, supervisor, or official) and/or work with student staff in a university setting.
Demonstrate a working knowledge of a variety of sports (flag football, basketball, softball, volleyball, soccer, etc.).
Experience supervising with effective leadership.
Ability to effectively communicate, both orally and written.
Involvement in the NIRSA community.
