The Department of Campus Recreation oversees two indoor recreation facilities, the Mackal-Tootell Complex, and the Anna Fascitelli Fitness & Wellness Center. The Mackal-Tootell Complex is a 275,000 square foot facility that operates as a shared space for academics, athletics, ROTC, and recreation. It features an indoor track, basketball courts, Cardio Center and Weight Room, classroom space, multipurpose gym, group exercise studio, and pool complex. The Anna Fascitelli Fitness & Wellness Center is a 33,000 square foot facility with cardio and strength equipment, three group exercise studios, a classroom, and a wellness resource center. Facility Operations manages over 60+ student and part-time staff and manages the Member Services desks in both locations.
Under the supervision of the Assistant Director, this position offers the opportunity to gain experience in all aspects of facility supervision. The Graduate Assistant will directly be responsible for the recruitment, hiring, training, scheduling, supervision, and evaluation of student employees, along with daily management as it relates to student personnel administration. This position will also assist with fiscal accountability; service center management & customer service; opening and/or closing of facilities; policy and procedure revisions as well as enforcement; inventory control; locker management; general departmental support; and help out with projects as assigned. Collaborate and assist with staff training, special events, and facility scheduling. Managing facility rentals may require occasional hours on evenings and weekends. This position will primarily work with the management of the Service Center Attendants.
The Graduate Assistant will also work with the Coordinator, Campus Recreation Marketing & Memberships to promote facility membership to university faculty and staff, and create, market, and manage programs and special offerings for member appreciation and recruitment.
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university. Recreation, Kinesiology, College Student Personnel, Business, Communications or related degree preferred.
Experience in campus recreation programs, athletics or facility operations.
Proficient computer skills; previous use of Class Software by Active Network preferred.
Willing to obtain and maintain C.P.R., A.E.D., and First-Aid certifications.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in addition to having outstanding customer service skills, and are highly motivated, show enthusiasm and pays attention to details.
Ability to work independently and work a part of a team that collaborates effectively with fellow colleagues.
