The primary function is to provide supervision for the daily operation and management of the university’s Recreation Center which serves over 450,000 visits annually. Additional areas of responsibility include; implementation of best practices reflective of current business and industry trends, promotion of informal recreation and special events, and personnel management for approximately 60 students. This position will assist with reviewing and processing facility requests, coordinate event needs, and schedule staff for indoor and outdoor recreation space. This position will also use data driven decision making to assist in areas such as budget monitoring, marketing, strategic planning, equipment maintenance, and policy development.
Coordinate daily functions and operations for the Recreation Center under the direction of the Assistant Director, including its programs, services and equipment.
Ensure cleanliness, appearance, safety, and maintenance of the Recreation Center.
Cultivate an inclusive, safe, and diverse environment for staff, members, and guests; address patron behavior, concerns, and conduct issues as necessary.
Recruit, hire, train, schedule, supervise, and evaluate qualified team of approximately 60 students, including; facility managers, weight room attendants, rovers, field staff, and special events staff.
Assist with facility scheduling software, utilizing EMS system.
Develop, plan, and coordinate informal recreation, member sport leagues, and special events, such as Rec the Night.
Prepare regular written communication such as monthly, quarterly, and annual financial, participation, and equipment inventory reports as needed.
Assist with development and revision of training methods for staff, including employee manuals and in-service training.
Assist with developing new and revising current policies/procedures, programs and management methods.
Collaborate within department and across campus to offer recreation opportunities and activities.
Yellow Bike liaison and manager of Recreation location checkout program.
Serve as member of the department’s risk management team
Assist with creating, monitoring, and managing Recreation Center operating budget.
Assist in the development of marketing and promotion plans for department programs.
Assist in the ordering, inventory, inspection, and maintenance of fitness and facility equipment.
Participate in university wide committees and work groups to contribute to the advancement of the University’s mission.

Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Management, Parks & Recreation Management, or related field, and 3 years of progressive responsible work experience in Recreation or related field.
Certified American Red Cross Professional Rescuer required or will obtain within first 30 day of employment.
Master’s Degree in related field
American Red Cross Certified Instructor, Professional Rescuer or Community & Work Place CPR/AED
Program experience with Fitness, management of Climbing wall, and/or coordinating sports leagues
Experience with facility management software (e.g. SubitUp)
Experience in using Event Management System or other event management solutions
Experience in contracting for a government agency
Experience coordinating, supervising, and evaluating professional staff and/or a large student staff
Prior University Experience
Additional Salary Information: Commensurate with Experience.
