Florida State University is seeking a dynamic, innovative and student development-centered individual for the position of Assistant Director, Fitness Facilities.
The successful candidate will provide shared leadership for a comprehensive university-wide recreational program designed for more than 50,000 students, faculty, and staff, and will assist with cultivating and delivering the departmental brand to the entire community. They will also cultivate an environment that values inclusiveness and diversity, engage in evidence-based decision-making, and promote student development and learning. Serves as the Assistant Director for Facilities for the Dr. Bobby E. Leach Center and Fitness and Movement Clinic. Oversees the overall management and direction of facility operations at the Dr. Bobby E. Leach Student Recreation Center and Fitness and Movement Clinic. Tracks accident and incident reports, conducts inspections, risk management assessments, and implements any appropriate changes to ensure quality control. Mediates customer issues or concerns as needed.
Oversees the development and management of the annual facility operation budget, including payroll expenditures and line item expenses. Prepares and projects revenue generation, marketing resale merchandise and facility rentals. Renews and monitors custodial contract for facilities. Implements and maintains cash handling policies and procedures in compliance with University Controller’s office.
Coordinates shared facility space in the Dr. Bobby E. Leach Student Recreation Center and Fitness and Movement Clinic. Collaborates with Academic Departments, Athletic Training, and Physical Therapy services on room scheduling, access control, permanent equipment purchases and equipment installation and repair.
Assists with strategic and long term planning for the Dr. Bobby E. Leach Center and Fitness and Movement Clinic. Develops, interprets and implements policies and procedures as they relate to the use of facility for safe and orderly use. Responsible for enforcement of departmental and University policies.
Supervises and mentors Student Program Coordinator for Facility Operation, Student Program Coordinator for Member Services, and Maintenance Support Technicians. Performs performance evaluations as required.
Recommends and assists with planned capital improvement projects. Coordinates major facility and fitness equipment purchases, installation, and repair. Oversees solicitation, evaluation, and execution of vendor contracts. Creates requisitions for purchase orders and ensures accurate and timely payments. Serves as a property custodian for department.
Maintains partnerships and serves on various Divisional and Campus Recreation committees.
Master's degree in Recreation, Sport Management, College Student Personnel, Student Affairs, or related field and two years of experience.
Experience working and maintaining an athletic or recreational facility.
Experience developing and managing budgets.
