Manhattan College Recreation Sports Department has an opening for incoming graduate students who want to join our professional team. Candidates must have a background in collegiate sports, demonstrate programming, organizational and management skills; strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential as is the ability to work independently. Responsibilities may include: strategic planning and organization; recruiting, hiring, training and supervising student employees; developing and scheduling programs and activities; equipment inventory and purchasing.
Description: The Recreation Graduate Assistant position is inclusive of, but not limited to, the following roles and responsibilities.
Oversee all scheduling of Intramural games, leagues and special events.
Assist in recruiting, training, hiring, scheduling, evaluating, and mentoring student staff.
Manage special events throughout the year, including University-wide all-campus tournaments.
Be available for potential nights and weekends as part of the work schedule.
Assist in formulating the yearly intramural equipment list and budget. With the oversight of the Recreation Coordinator.
Manage equipment and inventory for the Intramural sports program.
Embody and utilize the department's Mission, Vision and Values to improve and maintain program excellence.
Other duties as assigned.
Mid-August to Mid-May. Two-year internship commitment. Position requires 20 hours per week in the office and 10 hours per week to chaperone events (nights/ weekends). Compensation includes tuition coverage for 9 credits per semester along with stipend.
Bachelor’s Degree from accredited college or university and enrolled as a graduate student at Manhattan College.
