The Training and Assessment Coordinator will be responsible for leading, designing, and implementing innovative training programs to support the career readiness for over 220 student employees. The position will be responsible for providing specific program and department assessment and reporting and developing programs to support student success. They will participate in and lead unit-wide trainings and meetings, and create communication initiatives to promote collaboration, development, and creativity.
The position reports to the Campus Rec Associate Director of Programs and Special Initiatives while also serving as an active member of Campus Rec and Student Union Services by engaging in committees, participating in events, and providing recommendations. This position will be charged with serving as the training and assessment subject matter expert while working effectively with cross functional teams.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Training and Facilitation
Provide leadership and oversight of trainings and assessment including: program content, facilitation, logistics, and the recruitment of student participants
Recommend and implement new programs, initiatives, and methods to engage and develop student employees
Coordinate and develop all-staff trainings for Campus Rec and Student Union Services
Utilize the Campus Rec and Student Union Services Student Developmental Model to facilitate on-going training and development programs focused on career readiness
Create student employee training modules based on assessment of department needs and subsequently facilitate others learning how to use the modules for their own staff trainings
Co-lead the training and education committee comprised of employees and supervisors from Campus Recreation and Student Union Services
Lead FLASH(Freshman Learners Acquiring Skills in Higher Education) employment program including the recruitment, hiring, training and mentoring of participants. Maintain communication with FLASH supervisors, student participants, and alumni
Facilitate quarterly Student Coordinator Leadership series for student and professional staff members
Provide fiscal and risk management accountability for programs and activities
Deliver and report on student employee exit survey and make recommendations based on results
Actively contribute to the strategic planning process including the assessment of departmental goals and how they relate to the University’s vision
Deliver, report, and provide recommendations based on department-wide assessment instruments including, but not limited to: member satisfaction survey, NIRSA, NAPSAand NCHA Assessments, and Conference and Event Services satisfaction
Provide guidance and support to unit staff and advise on assessment best practices
Serve on unit assessment committee
Create, run, and distribute regular and ad hoc reports
Analyze reports and provide recommendations
Supervision and Recognition
Supervise employees including hiring, scheduling, evaluating, performance management, and coaching student staff
Be engaged in student development and employment on campus by actively participating in relevant campus committees, programs, and partnerships
Coordinate and plan student employee recognition programs including: end-of-year recognition events, employee newsletters, and other initiatives
Mentor student employees in acquiring professional skills such as problem-solving, conflict-resolution, communication, event planning, leadership development, and management
Guide students in navigating University processes and resources

Must successfully pass a criminal background check
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university and three years of professional experience OR
Master’s Degree from an accredited university and one year of professional experience Professional experience must include the following:
One year of experience developing, implementing, and assessing training or development programs
Demonstrated ability to assess programs and services, and develop recommendations and reports to communicate the outcomes
Experience with the application of equity, diversity and inclusion in the workplace and the demonstration of skills supporting people of all different backgrounds
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently as well as cooperatively within established and ad hoc teams
A self-starter able to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities, meet deadlines, and have exceptional attention to detail
Demonstrated experience with teaching and public speaking
Master’s degree from an accredited university in Recreation, Student Affairs, Adult Education, or related field and three or more years of relevant professional experience.
Experience working with, supervising, and creating programs designed for students or employees who are early in their career
Ability to articulate how co-curricular engagement and employee development contribute to a healthy campus community and student success
Strong aptitude and skills in managing, analyzing, and evaluating data through the use of database and spreadsheet applications
Able to think strategically about data and effectively organize and present data to stakeholders
Recognized training or learning-related certification
Additional Salary Information: The starting annual salary rate for this position will be between $49,116 and $54,348 dependent upon the knowledge, experience, skills and abilities of the chosen candidate.
