Under the supervision of the Coordinator, Intramural Sports, the Graduate Assistant - Intramural Sports is responsible for assisting the Coordinator in completing a wide variety of para-professional assignments, with overarching objectives relative to the organization and administration of the Intramural Sports Program.
WORK SCHEDULE: PART TIME, UP TO 20 HOURS PER WEEK DURING THE ACADEMIC SEMESTER. WINTER INTERIM AND SUMMER. SOME EVENING/ WEEKEND WORK REQUIRED, TYPICALLY WITH ADVANCE NOTICE. ADDITIONAL HOURS MAY BE SCHEDULED DURING SUMMER, INTERIM, AND BREAK PERIOD BASED ON DEPARTMENT NEED AND BUDGET AVAILABILITY. WORK SCHEDULE TO BE DETERMINED BY SUPERVISOR.
THIS IS A ONE YEAR APPOINTMENT SCHEDULED TO BEGIN ON OR ABOUT JULY 1, 2019 AND END NO LATER THAN JUNE 30, 2020. AN ADDITIONAL ONE YEAR APPOINTMENT MAY BE ADDED PENDING SATISFACTORY PERFORMANCE.
Assists in the organization and administration of the Intramural Sports Program including:
Assisting in the scheduling and management of multi-purpose complexes
Implementing the Student Intramural Official's training program, including providing direction, supervision and evaluation of sports officials for assigned activities.
Assisting with the recruitment, hiring, and evaluation of Intramural Sports Supervisors, Officials, and Clerical Assistants.
Maintaining employee work schedules and payroll records
Assisting with the development and evaluation of policies and procedures
Publicizing, promoting, and marketing the Intramural Sports Program.
Updating the web page for the Intramural Sports Program and social media content
Providing assistance with the research and evaluation of programs including:
Developing and administering surveys to students, faculty and staff
Compiling survey data and reporting results
Compiling statistics of weekly activities, and analyzing fluctuations in attendance
Conducting inventory and reporting lost or stolen equipment
Assisting with administering risk management programs, including conducting safety audits and generating safety reports
Assisting with the administration of the USU’s Sunny Days Summer Camp
Assisting with providing programming for CSUN’s Summer Enrichment program which could include generating sports courses for high school students with content to include how a sport is played, quizzes, practical application, and final exam.
Attending regular meetings with the Associate Executive Director
Performing other related duties as assigned
Bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Kinesiology, Health Promotion or a related field required.
Must be a currently admitted and/or enrolled in a CSU Northridge graduate program in one of the above disciplines or a related field
Previous related experience and/or specialized education required indicating that the selected candidate has the knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the duties of the position.
American Red Cross or department approved First Aid, CPR, and AED certification shall be obtained within 30 days of hire. Training is periodically offered free of charge by the USU. Applicants unable to attend USU-sponsored trainings are required to obtain certification at their own expense.
The person holding this position is considered a “mandated reporter” under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment.

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is typically performed in a temperature-controlled office environment, but some outdoor work in possibly inclement weather conditions should be expected. Contact with students, faculty, staff, administrators, agents, artists and the general public required. May have to work some evenings and weekends. Must be able to lift 25 pounds unassisted.
