SUMMARY: The Coordinator of Fitness & Wellbeing is responsible for the day to day operations of a comprehensive Fitness & Wellbeing program for students, faculty, and staff of A&M-Commerce and members of Campus Recreation. This position reports to the Associate Director of Programs and Staff Development.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Create dynamic and consistent fitness and wellbeing programming that promotes community and meets the changing needs of the A&M Community including various special populations, non-traditional students, residential students, faculty/staff, and community members.
Oversee the Group Fitness program which includes a progressive group fitness schedule and small group training.
Oversee the Personal Training program.
Oversee the Wellbeing program that encourages, supports, and maintains a campus-wide investment in well-being.
Plan, implement and evaluate fitness and wellbeing special events, awareness weeks, fitness competitions, and educational workshops.
Train, supervise, evaluate, and lead a Graduate Assistant of Fitness and Wellbeing.
Recruit, hire, train, schedule, supervise, process payroll, and evaluate group fitness instructors, personal trainers, program managers, and fitness assistants.
Teach multiple group exercise formats.
Develop, maintain, and implement professional development/certification opportunities for student staff.
Assist in the development and implementation of long-term and short-term goals for the fitness and wellbeing programs.
Provide recommendations on the selection, layout, maintenance, and replacement of MRC fitness floor equipment.
Collaborate with interdepartmental staff and cross-campus partners to provide fitness and wellbeing programs.
Coordinate and host regionally recognized workshops and certifications through ACSM, NSCA, ACE, etc.
Maintain monthly and yearly statistical data of fitness & wellbeing programming to develop and enhance program needs.
Project and fiscally maintain four fitness and wellness budgets including group fitness, personal training, and wellness.
Oversee the inventory and maintenance of fitness and wellbeing program equipment.
Utilize IMLeagues and Fusion online for group fitness and personal training registrations.
Establish and oversee risk management policies for the fitness and wellbeing program.
Assist marketing program in promoting and marketing fitness and wellbeing programs.
Assist with all Campus Recreation special events and programs.
Serve on the Campus Wellness Committee.
Maintain current and future nationally recognized group fitness and personal training certifications.
Attend national, regional, and state professional workshops and conferences.
SUPERVISION OF OTHERS: Student workers (estimated between 25 - 50) including group fitness instructors, personal trainers, program managers, and fitness assistants. Direct supervision of a graduate student.

Education: Bachelor's degree in a health-related, business, recreation, sports management/administration, or related field of higher education.
Experience/Knowledge/Skills: Two years of combined related experience in Fitness and Wellness programming. which can include full-time, part-time, and/or graduate assistantship. Oral and written communication skills.
Ability to: Ability to multitask, work independently, and work cooperatively with others.
Licensing/Professional Certifications: Current Group Fitness Instructor and/or Personal Trainer Certification recognized by NCCA. (ACSM, ACE, AFAA, NASM, NCCPT or meeting the same criteria) OR the ability to obtain the other within 90 days of employment.

PREFERRED EDUCATION / SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE:
Master's Degree in Exercise Science, Physiology Recreation, Sports Management, Sports Administration or related field of higher education.
Experience supervising and training fitness staff including group fitness instructors, personal trainers, and fitness assistants
Knowledge and experience with well-being/wellness programming.
Current American Red Cross AED/CPR/First Aid Certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.
