JOB SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Director of Wellness, the Assistant Director of Wellness-Intramural Sports and Facilities manages and operates the intramural program in accordance with the purposes and policies of the Nina B. Hollis Wellness Center and oversees facility scheduling. The Assistant Director of Wellness-Intramural Sports and Facilities is responsible for the supervision of staff, fiscal operations, program development, marketing/public relations, participant retention, and customer service related to the intramural program of the Department of Wellness Programs.
Oversees the creation and implementation of the intramural sports programs offered by The Wellness Center to include special events, staff training, field maintenance, establishment of performance standards, and committee participation and leadership.
Hires, trains, supervises, and evaluates all staff related to facility supervision, intramural sports and equipment checkout.
Develops a preventive maintenance program for all equipment related to the intramural programming area and ensures continuity through the performance of regularly scheduled inventory procedures and the development of policies and procedures to safely maintain and evaluate equipment, facilities, and programs.
Partners with community leaders and organizations as well as campus departments in the development of mutually beneficial wellness programs and activities.
Partners with the Fitness & Marketing coordinator in the creation of comprehensive marketing planning for all intramural leagues, special events, and collaborative sports programs aimed at the campus community, with a focus on student outreach, to drive Wellness Center utilization.
Manages facility operations for daily usage including on-campus and off-campus rentals and summer camps. Facilities include the Nina B. Hollis Wellness Center, HWC Pool, Intramural Field, Sand Volleyball Courts, Waterfront and Dubose Conference Room
Advances the mission of student, faculty, and staff retention and recruitment for the Wellness Center by Conducting promotion tours of the facility; managing and responding to complaints and suggestions from all users; and regularly evaluating participant usage for performance improvement.
Develops and manages the approved income and expense budgets of the intramural program.
Assumes responsibility for weekend coverage of the facility on a determined rotation (i.e. every fifth week) and one evening a week.
Contributes to the success of the Wellness Center by performing all other duties as needed to drive the vision, fulfill the mission, and abide by the values of the College.
Conducts regular monthly staff meetings and training's.
Sets working schedule for facility supervisors, intramural and equipment room staff.
Performs bimonthly payroll duties.
Maintains intramural standards set by the National Intramural Recreational Sports Associations.
Provides leadership to the Intramural Advisory Committee.
Assists in the coordination of special events such as NIRSA Day activities and the Annual Rec Fest program.
Attends all necessary meetings such as weekly professional staff meetings; weekly staff meetings with Director of Wellness; all scheduled FSC All-Staff meetings; and Convocations.
Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Recreation, or a closely related field. (Master’s degree preferred).
At least 2 years of experience in intramural sports, programming, human relations, and fiscal management.
Must be able to demonstrate experience in working with students as well as the general public.
Must be able to demonstrate skills in demonstrate skills in sport league coordination; demonstrate coordination of special events; demonstrate supervisory skills; demonstrate excellent communication skills, both written and oral; demonstrate ability to create and develop new programs; demonstrate ability to market programs and manage budgets; and demonstrate working knowledge of ongoing intramural programming.
