The function and purpose is to assist in overseeing responsibilities encompassing a wide variety of administrative, supervisory, and programming duties in the areas of Sport and Camp programs. This position will oversee the Intramural Sports operation and assist in overseeing Tigers DEN operations. These programs provide services to the LSU and Baton Rouge communities through excellence in preparation and execution of day-to-day operations and long-term objectives.
35% - Intramural Sports Operations:
Develop annual Intramural calendar to maximize facility usage and participation opportunities; Manage all facets of the Intramural program; scheduling, rule creation and updates; Assist in the production and implementation of technology resources; Assist in the enforcement of administrative and operational policies and procedures; Implement best practices for league management and administration; Expand program offerings to meet the needs of the student community.
25% - Personnel and Fiscal Management:
Direct supervision of Sport officials; Recruit, discipline, schedule, and train approximately 80 student officials annually; Administer extensive training and in-service meetings for all student staff; Assist in the day-to-day management of camp staff as needed; Oversee student payroll for assigned staff;
Coordinate all equipment purchases, maintenance, and inventory related to intramural sports and camps; Project annual operating budget for intramural sport and camp programing; Maintain accurate fiscal records of all intramural team transactions and camp revenue and expenses.
20% - Summer & Camp Program Operations:
Oversee and direct summer faculty/staff events and summer intramural program; Assist with oversight of the camp registration process; Assist in development and implementation of camp schedule and curriculum; Help coordinate, establish, and recommend for approval all fees pertaining to Camp participation; Assist in preparing, submitting for approval and monitoring operational budget; Assist with coordination and oversight all risk management procedures.
20% - Program & Professional Involvement:
Provide feedback regrading departmental programs, equipment, and operations by conducting daily observations/engaging in programs and using equipment/facilities; Immediately report safety concerns to the functional area supervisor; Be active professionally through, research, publication, presentation, speaking engagements, and involvement in professional associations; Represent University Recreation for various University/community functions, committee work, and other duties as assigned; Contribute positively to the work environment by participating in honest dialog that is indicative of the departments culture of teamwork; Willingly shares all information with department teammates in an effort to provide high quality outcomes that contribute to student success; Maintains positive co-worker relationships and fosters an environment of trust and inclusion; Provide staff coverage during evenings, weekends, and special events as determined by department & function need.
Bachelor's degree in a related field with one year of experience working in a sport/recreational environment with particular emphasis in university recreation.
Master's degree in a related field with three years of relevant work experience in Intramural Sports and High School Officiating along with knowledge of sport/event management.
Special or Physical Qualifications:
The ability to work flexible hours.
