The Assistant Director of Fitness and Wellness is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Regis Fitness Center as well as the Group Exercise, Personal Training, and Wellness programs. Duties include the hiring, training, supervision, and evaluation of entry desk student-employees, group exercise instructors, personal trainers, and peer educators.
An area of particular emphasis for the Assistant Director of Fitness and is holistic health and education. In the position’s multiple capacities the Assistant Director will collaborate with student leaders and employees, professional staff, and community experts to deliver holistic wellness and fitness programs and facilities to meet the need of the Regis community.
With assistance from the Director of Well-Being this position will develop budget projections, track expenses, process accounts payable, evaluate organizational needs, problem-solve, and serve as a liaison with other university departments essential to program implementation and success. In addition, the Assistant Director will serve as a member of the Well-Being leadership team; fully participating in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the departmental mission to mentor student leaders, develop programs that enhance the student experience at Regis University, and encourage a sense of campus community that reflects our Jesuit identity.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:
40% Fitness Program Management * Oversee the development of a comprehensive Fitness program for the Regis Community. * Provide leadership in the hiring, training, supervision, and evaluation of Certified Personal Trainers and Group Exercise Instructors. * Directly supervise the Personal Training program including client intake, exercise prescription, program evaluation, and marketing. * Revise and update all Personal Training and Group Exercise policies as necessary. * Collaborate with the Health & Exercise Science department on the personal trainer internship program. * Prepare and lead a non-credit group exercise and/or personal training preparation course for students interested in gaining certification.
40% Fitness Center Management * Coordinate and supervise the operations of the Fitness Center.
* Design, implement, and evaluate all Fitness Center policies and procedures. * Hire, train, schedule, supervise, and evaluate Fitness Center Front Desk staff. * Monitor the Fitness Center floor, including all strength and cardio equipment, to ensure a safe and clean environment is maintained at all times. Identify, report, and reconcile any necessary maintenance issues with the proper 3rd party service provider. * Work with university Physical Plant and Custodial Services on any facility infrastructure or HVAC concerns in the fitness center and locker rooms.
10% Wellness Program Management * Assist in the design and implementation of a Faculty and Staff Wellness program for the Regis community. * Lead monthly Wellness discussion for Faculty & Staff on various topics related to employee health, physical fitness, nutrition, sleep, etc.
10% Departmental Duties * Assist with Well-Being and university special events including Ranger Day, Friends & Family weekend, golf tournament, lifting competition and powder puff flag football.
* Serve on division and university wide committees when requested. * Assist the Outdoor Adventure Program by going on select trips including fall break and spring break. * In the absence of the Director represent the Wellness and Recreation department at Student Affairs and University wide functions as necessary.
Bachelor’s Degree in exercise science, kinesiology or related field. Personal Training and Group Exercise certified Demonstrated experience as a Personal Trainer and/or Group Exercise Instructor Fitness Center operations experience
Master’s Degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or related field. 1-3 years Student development experience and experience working with a University population in the area of wellness, fitness, and recreation. Wellness programing experience. Experience as a Graduate Assistant within Campus Recreation.
