In addition to assisting with the daily operations and activities of Recreation and Wellness, the Coordinator of Health Promotion develops, promotes/markets, implements, and evaluates a broad range of interdisciplinary campus-wide health promotion outreach, programs and services for students at NIU. They will engage in campus-wide advocacy for a variety of health initiatives and topic areas. The incumbent is responsible for comprehensive evidence-based health promotion initiatives for students through small group programs, population-level interventions (socio-ecological/public health model), trainings, and media campaigns. Additionally, they will collaborate with other university departments in the development, implementation, evaluation, and improvement of programs, services and policies designed to promote a safe and healthy campus community.
This position requires outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, including sensitivity to and experience working with people of diverse backgrounds, experiences, and abilities.
A Master’s degree in in a field relevant to the position (Public Health, Health Education, Higher Education, Student Affairs, or closely related field)
Demonstrated experience with health promotion theory, social norms marketing, socio-ecological model, bystander intervention training, and policy and environmental strategies.
Demonstrated experience preparing and delivering educational programs and materials pertinent to college students.
Experience supervising interns, students, or volunteers
