Overview: Orthopedic Associates of Lancaster, LTD is seeking a full-time Assistant Director of Strength and Fitness to assist in the leadership of Sports, Fitness, and Well-Being and to direct all aspects of the fitness and strength activities within a college setting.
Assist in the administration of all aspects of the Strength & Conditioning and Fitness Program
Provide leadership, guidance and direction to staff including fitness instructors, and student fitness facility workers; Responsible for recruiting, hiring, training, scheduling, and evaluating student employees and fitness instructors
Oversee the implementation of Strength & Conditioning programs for individuals, groups and all intercollegiate teams and serve as a resource to students, coaches, and staff
Develop policies and procedures for the Fitness Center
Supervise and manage fitness programs, classes, events, fitness testing and all other aspects of fitness and well-being services including development of related budgets
In coordination with the Director, design, schedule, implement, market and evaluate fitness programs, classes, events, etc.
Work closely with Facilities staff to ensure all equipment is functioning properly and facilities are clean
Coordinate with vendor for scheduling of maintenance and replacement of fitness center equipment
Provide/schedule training and support for Fitness Center employees to include Blood Borne Pathogens and Adult CPR/First Aid/ AED certifications
Maintain the highest knowledge of the profession by staying abreast of current trends and research, maintaining certifications and attending professional conferences and events
Train appropriate on-campus groups and individuals on the proper use of the fitness center equipment
Effectively promote an inclusive, safe and welcoming environment for all student athletes and set expectations for diversity and inclusion in all team activities
Adhere to all college policies including, but not limited to, specific duties as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) and Responsible Employee
This position requires a valid driver’s license for business travel purposes (individual must have a US driver’s license for at least three years and be qualified under College policy to transport students in college-owned and/or leased vehicles). CPR, AED and First Aid certification also is required.
Attend all department staff meetings
Attend Student Life Divisional meetings
Conduct all responsibilities in a safe manner according to regulations (OSHA, EPA, etc.)
Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor’s degree is required; master's degree in Exercise Science or related field preferred, Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) certification required; experience managing a fitness center preferred
Ability to preserve confidentiality of information
Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Good interpersonal skills and desire to be a team player
Strong written & oral communication skills
Must have experience that demonstrates the ability to teach, motivate, and develop students
Ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds
Knowledgeable of NCAA rules and committed to the NCAA Division III philosophy of athletics
