The Marketing Manager reports to the Associate Director for Administrative Services and serves as a member of a team that drives all marketing, assessment, special event, and information technology needs for the Department of Recreational Sports.
The Marketing Manager is responsible for: -Promoting physical activity, well-being, recreational program involvement, membership, recreation facilities, and services -Providing direction and coordination for a comprehensive marketing, communication, and public relations program for the Department of Recreational Sports -Developing of a comprehensive marketing plan -Overseeing the execution of the marketing plan -Coordinating the department’s promotional materials, publications, websites, and social media -Assisting in the development, planning, and executing of departmental events -Managing one graduate student and a student staff -Leading activations and fulfillment of sponsorship and partnership agreements -Assisting with managing and championing the customer-service and internal operations of Innosoft Fusion, the recreation management software program -Aiding in the leadership of departmental assessment efforts -Developing and maintaining partnerships within the Division of Student Affairs and across campus. -Desired candidate should be willing to serve on division and university committees and collaborations, as needed and/or desired
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in marketing, public relations, advertising, or related field. Experience in marketing, public relations and/or advertising experience that includes areas such as developing a marketing plan; creating promotional materials and publications; experience using a content management system to produce and post web content; and planning special events. Excellent communication skills and professional writing skills with strong editing and organizational skills. Experience with current computer software such as desktop publishing (Adobe Creative Cloud) and database management.
Prefered qualifications: Work experience in a recreation or sports management environment. Experience in writing and developing a departmental assessment plan. Knowledge of Innosoft Fusion software.

The Department of Recreational Sports operates within the Division of Student Affairs. The Department maintains two recreation/wellness facilities: McComas Hall and War Memorial Hall. McComas Hall offers three basketball/volleyball courts, an eight-lane indoor swimming pool, a weight training and cardiovascular workout area, two fitness studios, spin studio, fitness assessment center, TRX and core area, locker and shower facilities, equipment check out, an elevated jogging track, and a lounge area. The facility is also home to the Student Health and Counseling Centers. War Memorial Hall offers an indoor swimming pool and diving well, 6 basketball courts, 13 racquetball courts, 2 wallyball courts, a gymnastics room, locker and shower facilities, a handball court, a weight room, volleyball courts, a squash court, saunas, a dance/fitness room, and a multi-purpose room. The Department provides programs and services in open recreation, fitness, aquatics, instructional programs, intramural sports, sport clubs, outdoor recreation and special events.
