Manage the day-to-day operations of a comprehensive Outdoor Adventures Program, which includes but not limited to design, promotion, implementation, coordination, supervision, and evaluation of activities, personnel, and facilities.
Recruit, hire, train, schedule, supervise, and evaluate student staff, which includes graduate assistants, trip leaders, and supervisors.
Develop, administer, implement, and supervise trip and workshop programs.
Oversee the operations of the rock climbing wall, outdoor rental center, and lake house facility.
Develop and supervise indoor and outdoor activity areas.
Develop and disseminate program marketing material and promote activities.
Prepare and manage program budgets.
Purchase, inventory, and maintain equipment and supplies.
Plan and implement risk management policies and procedures.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of program marketing, organization, and implementation;
Knowledge of budget preparation, risk management policies, and student development skills;
Knowledge and ability in recruiting, hiring, training, scheduling, supervising, and evaluating student personnel;
Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communications skills;
Skilled in computer operations and word processing capabilities.
Bachelor’s degree in kinesiology, recreation, physical education, sports management, or a related field with two years of experience.
Current American Red Cross First Aid/CPR-PRO/AED Certification, Wilderness and Remote First Aid, and evacuation procedures certification.
Valid Texas Driver’s License and a driving record acceptable to the University’s insurance company.
Master’s degree in kinesiology, recreation, physical education, sports management, or a related field.
Progressive collegiate experience in the management of outdoor adventures programs, which includes administration, implementation, and supervision of the trip and workshop programs.
Demonstrated professional organizational involvement, particularly involvement with the National Intramural-Recreational Sports Association (NIRSA), Association of Outdoor Recreation & Education (AORE), National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS), or Outward Bound.
