STUDENT LIFE COORDINATOR

JOB SUMMARY: This position assists in the general operations of HESC and upholds usage policies. Administers first aid and/or CPR in emergency situations. Coordinates and instructs group fitness, personal training, and intramural programs. Assists in coordinating, marketing, and promotion of wellness related programming. Oversight of gameday setup and operations within HESC. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following: • Directly supervises part-time and student employees in the HESC. • Assists in the planning, coordinating, and implementation of daily, evening and/or weekend student activities and events including intramural, group fitness, personal training, social, recreational, and sports. • Collaborates with departments across campus to develop a schedule for building usage. • Prepares and distributes reports and promotional information about services offered. • Maintains certifications to include: group fitness, personal training, CPR/AED and first aid. • Supervises general inspection and maintenance and cleaning of equipment within HESC. • Performs set-up, tears-down, and storage of equipment. • Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS: • Bachelor’s degree in exercise science, leisure services, health promotion, fitness management, sports administration, business administration, or related field. • Possess or ability to obtain Personal Training/Group Exercise Certifications. • Must hold or have the ability to promptly obtain first aid, CPR/AED, and complete blood borne pathogen training. • Must be highly proficient using all Microsoft Office and/or Google programs. • Positive attitude toward student activities and physical fitness. • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse populations. • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in written and oral formats. • Ability to travel and work a flexible schedule, evenings and weekends.
PREFERENCES: • Master’s degree in exercise science, leisure services, health promotion, fitness management, sports administration, business administration, or related field. • One year experience facilitating group fitness classes, personal training sessions and/or intramurals. • One year experience working in collegiate recreation environment. • One year experience with facility management. • Experience with the planning and implementation of health, recreation, and student life, and athletic events.
EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Full time position with comprehensive benefits program including health, dental, vision, life, and LTD insurance, a Section 125 plan for medical and dependent care expenses; personal and sick leave; and a choice of retirement programs—IPERS (defined benefit) or TIAA (defined contribution). Salary will be commensurate with the applicant’s education and experience. Anticipated hours will be flexible including evenings and weekends.

Work is performed in an office setting. Sit, stand, bend, lift and move intermittently during working hours.
