The Fitness Coordinator reports to the Assistant Director for Fitness and Well-Being. Under the supervision of the Assistant Director for Fitness and Well-Being, the Fitness Coordinator will be responsible for the overall planning and coordination of a comprehensive fitness program including group exercise, personal training, fitness assessment, small group training, strength and conditioning, instructional programs, special events, and student development with a primary focus in group exercise. Other job responsibilities include but are not limited to: supervising student staff; teaching for-credit courses (group exercise instruction, personal training instruction, activity courses); organizing programs, events and activities; promoting health and wellness for the campus community; developing new and improving existing group exercise programs; and supporting all areas of Recreational Sports.
-Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, Recreation or Sports Management, Physical Education, or related field; -Nationally accredited Group Fitness Instructor Certification -First Aid & CPR/AED Certification -Experience in fitness program management
-Master’s degree in Exercise Science, Recreation or Sports Management, Physical Education, or related field -American Council on Exercise Group Fitness Instructor and Personal Training Certifications -Les Mills Certification (BODYPUMP, BODYATTACK, BODYSTEP, BODYFLOW, BODYCOMBAT, CXWORX, BODYJAM, GRIT) -200 Hour Certified Yoga Teacher -Experience of fitness program management in collegiate recreation

The Department of Recreational Sports operates within the Division of Student Affairs. The Department maintains two recreation/wellness facilities: McComas Hall and War Memorial Hall. McComas Hall offers three basketball/volleyball courts, an eight-lane indoor swimming pool, a weight training and cardiovascular workout area, two fitness studios, spin studio, fitness assessment center, TRX and core area, locker and shower facilities, equipment check out, an elevated jogging track, and a lounge area. The facility is also home to the Student Health and Counseling Centers. War Memorial Hall offers an indoor swimming pool and diving well, 6 basketball courts, 13 racquetball courts, 2 wallyball courts, a gymnastics room, locker and shower facilities, a handball court, a weight room, volleyball courts, a squash court, saunas, a dance/fitness room, and a multi-purpose room. The Department provides programs and services in open recreation, fitness, aquatics, instructional programs, intramural sports, sport clubs, outdoor recreation and special events.
