Under the supervision of the Director of Competitive Sports in the Department of Sports and Recreation, the Athletic Trainer for Competitive Sports provides physical therapy and the prevention, care and rehabilitation of athletic injuries; provides trainer coverage of athletic activities; organizes orthopedic clinics; advises on prevention and care of athletic injuries; team-teaches athletic training classes. Supervises assigned staff, students, and Interns.
Serves as subject matter expert for applicable and appropriate aspects of the Athletic Training service
Educates athletes on injuries, concussions, at-home care, and purpose of specified rehab protocol
Works individually with athletes to tailor rehabilitation and prevention measures per individual needs and goals
Makes referrals to appropriate medical professionals to ensure optimal level of care when necessary;;
Maintains current policies, practices, protocols, and standing orders
Works collaboratively with appropriate personnel to establish and maintain Emergency Actions Plans for all competitive sports facilities
Assists in training Club Athletes, student assistants, and staff in the EAP protocol and execution practices
Maintains an inventory of supplies, including but not limited to medical/AT supplies, modalities, AEDs, medical kits, supplements, ATR cleanliness/organization
Coordinates medical oversight and Medical EAP policies for the KSU Summer Camp

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education in Athletic Training, Sports Medicine, Kinesiology or related field
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Three (3) years of related experience
MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW AND/OR INSTITUTION:
Possess or eligibility to obtain and maintain a Georgia state licensure within thirty (30) days of hire
Current, valid, and unrestricted Georgia driver’s license
Master’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education in Athletic Training, Sports Medicine, Kinesiology or closely related field
Additional Salary Information: Funding for this position is based upon revenue generated funds and therefore continued employment is based on availability of these funds.
