Be a reliable and responsible leader dedicated to the team’s best interest. Attend all practices and games previously agreed upon or give ample warning if not able to attend.
Attend other NUDT events regularly. Arrange a “Coach Attendance” schedule for practices and games with the Lead Captains and remain accountable for all agreed upon dates.
Throughout the season, remain an engaged and integral part of the team and get to know each member personally. Maintain consistent communication with the Lead Captains.
Ability to work flexible hours to include certain evenings and weekends.
Excellent interpersonal skills in communication with students, coaches, other Northeastern University staff and administrators.
Risk Management Responsibilities:
Display professionalism, good judgment, and support of the Northeastern Athletic Department’s and Northeastern University Dance Team’s goals and objectives.
Conduct all aspects of the program within the philosophy and guidelines of Northeastern University, the National Dance Team Association, and the Northeastern University Dance Team Handbook.
Assist lead Captains with cleaning and perfecting Game Day dances, sidelines, and NDA Nationals routine. Be willing to provide new sidelines if necessary.
Help run technique classes and offer suggestions on team improvements. Be willing to assist in teaching the team new skills and tricks.
Offer creative and artistic input regarding game-day, CAA Tournament, NDA Nationals, and any additional competition routines.
Aid the Lead Captains in the selection of team officers, including Lead Captains, Junior Captains, Treasurer, Social Media Chair, Community Service Chair, and/or Team Spirit Chair for the following season, and assist with the officer transition process between seasons.
Assist and advise Lead Captains throughout the audition process to select new Dance Team members, offer input for final selection, and work with the Lead Captains in leading the audition itself.
Arrange logistics with Lead Captains for ProAction Dance (July), NDA Camp (August), and NDA Nationals (April).
Display a strong knowledge of dance technique and NDA’s specific style of Hip Hop/Jazz choreography. Willingness to provide competition choreography if necessary.
Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned to meet the goals and mission requirements of the University, Recreation, and the Club Sport Program. Cooperation of all personnel is expected to carry out the mission.
Teaching dance technique (jazz, hip hop, and pom preferred): 3+ years experience
Leading collegiate dance team (coaching experience preferred): 1+ years experience
Dancing on a collegiate dance team: 1+ years experience preferred
