The Brookline Recreation Department is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Assistant Director. The successful candidate will have a passion for our mission – to enhance the quality of life through enriching experiences that develop and maintain healthy lifestyles for young people, adults, and senior citizens in our community. Under the general direction of the Director of Recreation, the Assistant Director initiates, directs, coordinates and supervises a variety of recreational programs and activities. Plans, schedules and reviews the work and performance of staff; recommends and assists in the implementation of goals, objectives and policies and procedures. Promotes and fosters an atmosphere of teamwork and effective communication to ensure the delivery of excellent customer service. Works with the Director to plan and establish priorities for programs, facilities and projects; and stays abreast of new trends and innovations in recreation.
Ability to effectively resolve conflicts and maintain harmonious working relationships throughout the organization and with other agencies. Ability to take initiative and apply considerable ingenuity and practical knowledge to interpret and resolve unusual situations. Bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Leisure Service and/or Management, and five years of related recreation experience including experience in management, supervision, planning, budget, computers and relevant computer applications. Certification as a Park and Recreation Professional required along with a valid driver’s license. Starting annual salary $83k plus generous benefits. Resume and cover letter by July 19, 2019.
