Under the supervision of the Director of Recreation, the Athletic Trainer for Recreation Sports provides education, independent health care, and preventative and rehabilitative services for students who sustain injuries during a Club Sport program, Intramural program, or open recreation activity. Work closely with other full-time varsity athletic trainers to provide effective delivery of athletic training services.
Bachelor’s degree plus BOC Certified Athletic Trainer in good standing with the BOC, NATA, and other national/state regulatory agencies; must be certified in First-aid, CPR, and AEDuse as a Professional Rescuer by the ARC/AHA; must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and driving record that is insurable by Colorado College’s motor vehicle insurance carrier; ability to work extended hours, early mornings, late nights, weekends and holidays frequently due to the athletic seasons. Physical requirements include the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and the ability to stand for long periods of time.
Master’s degree from an accredited institution in athletic training, physical education or a related field plus a minimum of 2 years of post-certification, professional experience. CPR/AED/First Aid Instructor certified; strong clinical and interpersonal skills; exceptional time management and detail-orientation skills, and have the ability to work independently as well as with other recreation staff; experience working in a collegiate, co-educational environment; excellent written and verbal communication skills proficiency in standard office equipment, and the use of electronic medical record system software.
