Assistant Director of Recreation for Intramural Sports & Sport Clubs

Responsible for assisting the Director of Recreation in the administration, development and implementation of recreational programming for the campus community. Direct oversight of the intramural sports program, special events and sport club programs.
REPORTS TO: Director of Recreation & Intramural Sports
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
Assist the Director of Recreation in the administration, organization, and supervision of recreational programming.
Directly oversee the planning and implementation of intramural sports including leagues, tournaments, staff training, scheduling. This includes producing annual reports and implementing assessment projects.
Oversee organization and implementation of recreational special events such as the Brown and Gold Games, Rec the Night, Bubble Soccer, Intramural All-Star Night, among others. Develop new special events and programming ideas to engage the students and contribute to a vibrant life on campus.
Collaborate within our department as well as with various student affairs units to create fun and engaging activities and events for students on campus.
Supervise (1) Graduate Assistant and delegate duties appropriately in the areas of Intramural sports and Sport Clubs as well as recreation equipment management.
Administer and provide support and leadership development for approximately 13 sport club programs. Direct and support efforts for new and proposed clubs.
Oversee and manage (4) sport club coaches in the following sports: Men's Basketball, Men's Soccer, Women's Soccer and Baseball.
Assist the Director in the areas of facility management and risk management.
Manage recreation equipment and maintain equipment room.
Support the overall mission of the university (Momentum) as well as the Recreation Department by providing activities, leadership and skill development, training and programs that will contribute to the success of students at Adelphi.
Support the overall mission of the university (Momentum) to maintain and enhance the culture of inclusion and embrace diversity within the Campus Recreation department.
Work cooperatively with other campus recreation professionals, graduate assistants, athletic administration and coaches.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Ability to supervise employees.
Knowledge of current trends in intramural and recreational programs.
Knowledge of Club Sports including ability to oversee club sport funds, show fiscal responsibility, and hold clubs accountable to club guidelines and university policies.
Knowledge of commonly used computer programs is helpful (Microsoft office, Excel, IM leagues, Subitup, EZ Facility, EMS). Ability to demonstrate quick learner of technology as it applies to our field as well as social media, presentations, videos, etc.
Knowledge of a variety of sports and special events.
Demonstrate knowledge of officiating in several sports.
Ability to work occasional nights and weekends required.
Ability to set up sporting events; move and lift athletic equipment of all types; move and replace free weight equipment, and demonstrate officiating several sports.
Bachelor's Degree (Master's Degree preferred) in Sports or Recreation Management, Physical Education or related field required plus 2 years experience in the Campus Recreation/Athletics Department setting.
Current certifications in CPR for Professional Rescuer and ARC First Aid are required to be maintained for this position.
