The Marketing Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the department of Campus Recreation’s marketing, communications, and promotional efforts (programs include Swim Lessons, Drop-in Swim, Safety Courses, Sport Clubs, Group Exercise, Personal Fitness Training, Drop-in Strength & Cardio, Intramural Sports, Outdoor Program Rental Center, Outdoor Program Trips & Clinics, Outdoor Program Challenge Course, Outdoor Program Drop-in Climbing, Races, Special Events, etc.). The position provides direct mentorship and student learning for 1-5 hourly student staff. This position hires, trains, schedules, and evaluates student graphic designers and promotions team staff and guides them in their daily duties and professional development. Duties include developing and implementing a marketing plan, promotions timeline, and strategies to raise awareness of and increase participation in Campus Recreation programs/services, compiling and reporting on marketing analytics, coordinating and implementing department promotional events, promoting department hourly employment opportunities, maintaining/enhancing department social networking venues, creating promotional materials (brochures, banners, ads, power points, press releases, flyers, posters etc.), conducting promotional presentations, creating and implementing promotional campaigns, ensuring department programs/services are included in institution and community promotional venues (event announcement emails, calendars, etc.).
Other expectations of the Marketing Coordinator position include the following: Monitor budgets and spending for the unit; actively seek to create new revenue streams and expand existing revenue streams. Assist with assessment efforts of the Student Affairs (SA) division and within the unit including basic tracking of activities, program evaluation, and measurement of learning outcomes. Collaborate with SA colleagues, academic colleagues, and other WSU campuses and centers to develop mutual relationships that directly benefit students. Represent the Campus Recreation department and serve on various Student Affairs and University committees. Support efforts to increase and embrace diversity. This position reports to the Associate Director of Outdoor Program/Marketing.
This position interacts regularly with university Marketing and Communications Office to collaborate on professional communication to internal and external audiences that enhances the brand image of the university and delivers a clear message.

Bachelor’s degree in business management, marketing or related field ANDone (1) year professional experience. Experience in marketing, promotions, and communications. Experience with customer service. American Red Cross CPR/AED and First Aid required but can be completed during the six month probationary period. Master’s degree in related field. Experience with marketing and promotional strategies (creating effective marketing plans/campaigns, compiling and reporting on marketing analytics, conducting focus groups/satisfaction surveys and compiling/reporting on/applying results, etc.). Experience hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, and supervising student staff. Proficiency with Canvas or other online instructional program. Experience in budget management. Seeking applicants with excellent oral and written communication skills, demonstrated problem-solving and conflict management skills, and demonstrated program revenue generation. Demonstrated commitment to student development in management practices and leadership. Ability to collaborate well with internal and external constituents.
