Campus Recreation serves over 15,000 members on an annual basis, with an excess of 600,000 visitors. On a daily basis, more than 3,500 members utilize the Margot Connell Recreation Center, Newton Quonset Hut, and outdoor recreation fields and courts.
The Associate Director, Facilities and Operations, oversees scheduling, a variety of recreational and athletic facilities, work orders, events, technology, risk management, rentals, aquatic operations, and member services. This role supports over $1mil in revenue transactions via Member Services in person and online sales. He/she is the project manager for facility, equipment, and technology upgrades. Finally, this role will work with the Director in developing plans for future recreation projects.
The successful candidate will have experience providing leadership and direction to a team of 6 full-time, 2 Supported Employees Program staff, and over 300 student staff members in providing exceptional customer service, safe and clean facilities, accurate scheduling information, and stream-lined services. In addition, as technology plays a major role in today’s recreation centers, preferred candidates should have experience with member management software (Fusion, IM Leagues), along with Subitup and other emerging recreational uses of technology. Additionally, this person should have experience with Marketing operations.
The Associate Director is responsible for facilities management of the 244,000 square foot Margot Connell Recreation Center which hosts 40 varsity events, 15 major student events, over 100 smaller student groups, ten university events, and 40 non-BC groups each year in addition to all other Campus Recreation programming. In addition, the 4,000 square foot Newton Quonset Hut, which hosts ten university events and ten student events each year, and other recreational programs. Is also responsible for maintaining and managing the Main Campus and Brighton Campus recreation fields and outdoor courts The candidate should have experience scheduling and supporting multiple types of facilities with many cross-campus and external groups. Departments this role works with include, but are not limited to, Varsity Athletics, all Facility trade groups, Capital Projects, Risk Management, Student Affairs, Event Management, Parking, Dining, ITS, Police, and various other groups. Evening and weekend work required.
Bachelor's degree in business administration, recreation/sports management or related
Seven years’ experience in recreation facility, university setting preferred.
Three years’ supervisory experience.
Red Cross Pro-Rescuer CPR/AED/First Aid certifications.
Red Cross Pro-Rescuer CPR/AED/First Aid Instructor certifications or will obtain within first 3 months of employment.
Strong organizational skills, ability to manage people and resources in a collaborative
team-based environment, and excellent communication skills.
Experience with Recreation Software’s, such as Fusion, IM Leagues, Subitup, Fitness Platforms
