Under the direction of the Associate Director of Titan Recreation, the Fitness & Wellness Coordinator is responsible for the management and administration of all areas of Fitness & Wellness. These area include Drop-In Fitness/Group Exercise Program, Personal Training, Instructional Recreation Class, and management of Weight Room & Cardio areas, Functional training space, and development, implementation, and management of the Wellness Program. The Fitness & Wellness Coordinator is responsible for all programmatic aspects of Titan Recreation’s Fitness, Instructional Program & Wellness and the management of the equipment. The Fitness & Wellness Coordinator will develop the budget for all Fitness & Wellness areas and is responsible for meeting department revenue goals.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
Design, implement, evaluate, and provides vision, leadership and strategic direction of the Titan Recreation Fitness & Wellness program
Develop, implement, and recommend policies and procedures that will ensure the effective day to day operation of the Drop-In Fitness/Group Exercise Program, Personal Training, Instructional Recreation Class, Weight Room & Cardio areas, and Functional Training space.
Develop and administer needs assessment or surveys to determine interest in, or satisfaction with, fitness & wellness programs, events, or services.
Develop comprehensive group exercise and Instructional Recreation Class schedules
Develop comprehensive personal training program to include classes, orientations, workshops and events
Coordinate, and schedule campus collaboration programing with the Health and Human Development College, Student Health Center, CAPS, Titan Well Program Department and Disability Support Services
Collect, monitor, and analyze program use information to identify trends, and provide recommendations to Associate Director
Compile and maintain semester statistical data for reporting semi-annually and annually (e.g. participation numbers, fitness studio equipment, inventory, etc.)
Develop a year round event calendar for student, member and community
Hire, supervise, train, and evaluate: Group Exercise Instructors, Instructional Class Instructors, Personal Training Staff, Floor attendants for Titan Recreation.
Prepare and Manage program budgets; review and endorse all budget expenditures prior to submittal to the Associate Director for approval
Coordinate and conduct monthly safety training meetings
Prepare and process all personnel and payroll documentation
Provide support to the Associate Director in the development and implementation of special programs and projects
Demonstrate proper operation of fitness equipment, such as resistance machines, cardio machines, free weights, or fitness assessment devices.
Be knowledgeable of current national wellness and wellbeing initiatives, activities, and trends
Develop recommendations to generate revenue growth
Create monthly programming reports showing revenue generated and costs accrued by all Fitness & Wellness programmatic areas
Track and document all training and certifications for all staff
Create and promote student professional development opportunities
Conduct First Aid/CPR training (up to 4 per year)
Must being willing to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends when necessary

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements
Required: Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Exercise & Sport Science or related field
Preferred: Master of Science (M.S.) in Exercise & Sports Science or related field
Knowledge and abilities demonstrated through two to four years progressive experience in managing fitness and wellness programs and personnel.
Must have current certification from one of the following: ACSM, NSCA, ACE, NASM
Knowledge and Abilities:
Demonstrated ability to organize, manage, and evaluate group activity programs.
Ability to independently interpret and apply a wide variety of policies and procedures.
Ability to plan, organize, supervise and direct the operations of multiple programs.
Ability to effectively select, train, schedule and evaluate part time and contract employees.
Must possess strong interpersonal skills. Ability to adapt to changes in the work environment and effectively deal with unexpected issues.
Ability to establish and maintain effective, cooperative, and harmonious relationships within a multi-cultural campus environment.
Ability to prepare and manage budgets as well as financial reports.
Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Point-of-Sale systems such as Fusion.
Work is primarily performed in an office environment as well as various physical activity program areas. Occasionally work is conducted in the outdoors for extended periods, in the delivery of various activities.
Frequently required to sit, talk, listen and walk; manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination; corrected hearing and vision to normal range; clear verbal communication.
Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards
Must obtain First Aid/CPR/AED Certification within 3 months of employment.
Required to be a Limited Mandatory Reporter and sign ASI Limited Mandatory Reporter Form.

Titan Recreation is a deoartment of the Associated Students, CSUF, Inc for California State University, Fullerton. The department is responsible for all non-credit physical education, recreation, and fitness programming and operates the Student Recreation Center on the main campus and a satellite fitness center on the Cal State Fullerton Irvine Campus. The Student Recreation Center is the home of Titan Recreation and opened in March 2008 earning the first LEED Gold rating for new construction on the campus and continues to strive toward green and sustainable daily operating practices.
The 95,000 square foot center includes a 3 court gymnasium, indoor track, indoor rockwall, four activity studios, racquetball courts, and over 17,000 square feet of floor space dedicated to strength and cardio equipment.
This award winning, state of the art facility, serves as the main venue for most Titan Recreation programs including but not limited to...: intramural sports, drop in fitness, instructional classes, aquatics, American Red Cross certification programs, personal training, and summer youth programs.
