The University of Central Florida Recreation and Wellness Center (RWC) is seeking a dynamic individual to join our team as the Assistant Director of Fitness (Assistant Director, Campus Recreation)
This position offers an exciting opportunity to manage and direct a thriving Fitness program at UCF and participate as an active team member on the Recreation and Wellness Center Staff. The Assistant Director reports to the Associate Director of Programs.
Supervise and mentor a full-time Coordinator, two Graduate Assistants, and 100+ Student Staff Members. Areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to: recruitment, hiring, training, supervising, evaluating and overall development of staff through a progressive training program and continual professional development.
Develops, recommends, and implements policies relating to RWC fitness facilities and programs. Coordinates the day to day management, staffing, and operations of the fitness facilities.
Coordinates and develops a comprehensive fitness program including, but not limited to: Group Exercise, Personal Training, Fitness Certifications, Fitness Assessments and Fitness Programs/Special Events.
Recommends and oversees operating and personnel budgetary needs for fitness facility and programs.
Coordinate facility equipment, maintenance and management within all dedicated fitness spaces at the RWC, RWC @ Knights Plaza and RWC @ Downtown
Provide oversight for the intake process for personal training and fitness assessment clients. Counsel student participants as necessary and appropriate. Manage the access management software, revenue process and all financial components for personal training.
Responsible for maintaining current fitness inventory and managing repair & replacement process for equipment.
Monitor and provide oversight for all fitness components of integrative health and wellness initiatives for students.
Work with all facility and programmatic external partners and vendors to ensure operation of program components.
Teach and provide education through personal training and group exercise education and certification workshops, including partnerships with national accrediting bodies.
Coordinate the completion of statistical analysis and assessment results for areas of responsibility.
May serve on other university department, SDES, and/or National Committees.
Work closely with Student Government to meet the goals, objectives, and expectations of one of their primary funded agencies.
Responsible for risk management in the areas of responsibility.
Assists in coordination of program marketing efforts.
Bachelor's and 4+ years of relevant experience or Masters degree and 2+ years of relevant experience with at least 1+ year(s) of leadership experience.
Masters degree in Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology, or related field of study.
Current certification in personal training and/or group exercise from NCCA recognized and accredited organization (ACE, AFAA, ACSM, NASM, NSCA, etc.)
Prior professional experience working with university population in campus recreation/higher education setting.
Current CPR/First Aid Certification.
This position requires routine evening and/or weekend supervision due to the nature of program activities.
