Reporting to the Associate Director, Facilities and Operations of the Student Center Complex (SCC) (University Center and Shalala Student Center), the Aquatics Manager provides direct supervision of the Student Center Complex’s University Center Pool through the development, delivery, administration, and guidance of operations, aquatic facility management and programming. The Aquatics Manager provides essential services to student activities and professional events by managing the day-to-day operations of the Pool and Pool Information Desk services, including administering student staff hiring, scheduling, supervision, and training. This position will also oversee the American Red Cross certifications for the SCC team, and required certifications include American Red Cross Lifeguard, Lifeguard Instructor, Certified Pool Operator or Aquatics Facility Operator. The Aquatics Manager works closely with Student Center Complex facilities, information, technical services, and events/reservations personnel.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities Facility & Membership
Oversee UC Pool access records; daily, monthly and yearly.
Manage and direct all maintenance operations of UC Pool, pump room and equipment. Must monitor, analyze and apply UC Pool chemicals.
Manages daily, monthly and annual memberships for the UC Pool.
Responsible for managing UC pool member services including but not limited to locker room services.
Responsible for assuring proper cash management procedures and ensuring credit card handling/processing and file storage is PCI compliant. Train staff accordingly.
Responsible for generating invoices, collecting facility deposits and fees.
Develop and maintain financial report in conjunction with annual budget.
Serve as American Red Cross liaison on behalf of the University of Miami.
Conducts hazard risk analysis of UC pool to assist in updating and maintaining Emergency Action Plan.
Responsible for managing certifications database.
Develop and conduct monthly lifeguard training assessments.
Monitor and maintain capital equipment and inventory.
Responsible for submission and tracking UC Pool work orders.
Must develop a certification program to ensure staff is CPR/AED certified.
Schedules, coordinates, and manages reservations for the Whitten University Center Pool.
Responsible for the leadership and management of 25-30 lifeguards, 4 head lifeguards, 10 front desk attendants and 2 front desk attendant supervisors.
Serves as liaison between University of Miami Swimming, Diving, Facilities and SCC.
Manages summer camp reservations, contracts, invoices and deposits.
Develop and manage year round member initiative aquatic programs.
Coordinate and process facility use agreement forms for private rentals and community events.
Develop and maintain positive relations with all patrons of the SCC.
Coordinates and communicates with other staff members, university departments and student organizations in matters pertaining to those areas.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s Degree (Business, Sports Management, Education or related field preferred).
Three years of relevant experience. Previous experience in a higher education setting is preferred.
Certifications: American Red Cross Lifeguard, Lifeguard Instructor, Certified Pool Operator or Aquatics Facility Operator.
