Housed in the Division of Student Affairs, the Department of Recreation Services at Iowa State University strives to provide a holistic and diverse approach to health and wellness that encompasses physical, spiritual, intellectual, environmental, social, and emotional wellness. The department offers high-quality recreational facilities and a wide variety of programs and services to promote a healthy mind and body and enhance the overall quality of the educational experience at Iowa State University.
The Student Development Coordinator will be responsible for the centralization and implementation of a unified departmental onboarding process, as well as the oversight of various professional development, and student success related initiatives for student employees. This position is also instrumental in the collection of ongoing assessment and research data on student employment, program outcomes, academic success and member satisfaction.
Scheduling and delivering monthly student on-boarding training
Structuring and overseeing the student on-boarding Canvas panel
Organize and teach monthly CPR/First Aid certification classes
Serve as department contact for EH&S Training portal, ensuring student employees are granted access to applicable trainings
Auditing required certifications to ensure all are current
Develop and distribute training materials
Deliver and schedule on-going professional development workshops and classes
Maintain and collect on-going assessment data on student success
Oversight of graduate practicum student
Oversight of the Student Development Fund
Serve as department Timekeeper within Workday
Serve as department JM Support role and maintain student employment records within Workday
Implementation of Career Readiness Competencies including job descriptions, website management, and Career Readiness evaluation oversight
Serve as Recreation Services program ambassador, focusing on integrating and collaborating within the Student Health & Wellness Unit
Required Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and 1 year of related experience; OR a combination of education and/or related experience totaling 5 years unless otherwise specified under supplemental required education and experience. Experience must be at a comparable level and directly related to the duties of this position.
Bachelor’s degree in recreation management, sports administration, general studies, or related field At least one years’ experience in campus recreation, student development, or a related field
