The coordinator of operations & events is responsible for supervision of student employees and operations and events at the Strom Thurmond Wellness & Fitness Center (WFC). This position works to provide leadership in operations and manages campus recreation events. This position will oversee the operations attendants and equipment attendants to provide opportunities for students to engage in meaningful beyond the classroom (BTCM) experiences. This position will be required to flex time to work some nights and weekends for campus recreation functions and events.
Primary duties include:
Provide onsite management at WFCand other campus recreation facilities to include customer service functions, event management, operations of access and security systems.
Hire, train, schedule, and evaluate the Operations Assistants and Equipment Attendants with a focus on customer service, risk management, and proactive operations management.
Assist with receiving, scheduling, and confirming facility reservations and managing confirmed events into 25Live (campus-wide scheduling system),
Assist in the creation and administration of the budget for student wages, equipment and facility projects using appropriate university financial policies and tools to ensure revenue and expenses are tracked and optimized.

Bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Sport Management, PE or related field of study with two years recreational/ fitness facility experience.
This position has been designated as essential personnel during inclement /hazardous weather and other emergencies. In addition, this position requires a variable work schedule which may include early mornings or evenings, as well as weekends and nights, and the ability to attend on and off campus events. Must possess a current American Red Cross First Aid / CPR / AED certification or acquire one prior to hire date.
