The Assistant Director for Aquatic Operations and Risk Management is responsible for the leadership and management of aquatic operations at the Aebersold Student Recreation Center (ARC) including student staff, policies, scheduling, equipment, programming, safety certifications, risk management and coordination of aquatic maintenance. This position will manage onsite functions and will assist in the coordination of scheduling reservation requests.
• Direct aquatic facility operations to support the Campus Recreation mission to include customer service, event management and operations. • Recruit, hire, train and evaluate student lifeguard staff; provide direct supervision and training for student staff and contracted seasonal instructors or lifeguards. • Serve as the departmental risk management coordinator to facilitate in-house staff training, maintain record keeping for safety certifications, and facility risk management, and to facilitate the FA/CPR/AED and lifeguard certification classes. • Collaborative relationships with the University’s risk management, emergency management, facilities staff and environmental health and safety departments to ensure the safe operation, compliance and adherence with University standards and best practices for facilities. •Supervise all aquatic operations within the aquatic center. •Recruit, hire and train all aquatic center staff. •Ensure patron compliance with ARC policies and procedures; ensure facility cleanliness and risk management procedures. •Analyze and be responsible for daily and semester long and annual participation statistics; generate reports as needed. •Maintain proper inventory of equipment based on facility and patron trends. •Maintain Five Year Replacement Plan of aquatic center equipment. •Perform routine equipment inspection and maintenance. •Purchase equipment, as necessary. •Establish a diverse annual programming schedule. •Ensure operations stay within budgetary parameters.
Bachelor’s degree in related field Three years full time aquatic facility management; including operations, programming, staff supervision and training Current American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor Certification Current American Red Cross Lifeguarding Instructor Certification Experience working with diverse populations
